Chapter 50 - Winning Streak
I once again took a deep breath. Even though I kept telling myself that I didn't feel nervous, I could still feel my heart beating faster than usual. Is it because of the excitement? I don't know.    All I could hear was the cheers of the people all over the arena. And the sounds of the buzzer that they're testing before the game starts. We'll be playing with many players here, and I know they're all here to win.    As I was roaming my vision, I felt someone's arm on my shoulder, which caused me to flinch. "Don't feel nervous. We're all here with you, so just trust us and toss the ball like how you usually do." Ezra said with his usual bright and cheery smile.    Does he not feel nervous at all? It must be because he's used to playing in this kind of place and with this kind of atmosphere. There's no way it'll make him feel nervous when he's born to be on this stage.    I apprecia

Chapter 51 - Distractions
My forehead creased. “D-Do I know you?”   This man didn’t let go of my arm as he moved his face closer to mine, which caught me off-guard. W-What’s going on? Who’s this person? “P-Please let me go!” I unintentionally raised my voice because of how scared I was with this unknown man still holding my arm.    It was too fast, but all I knew was Ezra pulled me away from the man, and he hid me behind his back. How did he get here that quick? “Is there a problem here? Do you know him, Alexis?”    I shook my head as I still could feel fear enveloping my whole body. The grasp of that man on my arm left a visible bruise. But what I can’t understand is why someone would pull my arm like that?    It would have been understandable if I’m Lia right now because she’s famous, but I’m Alexis. The nobody. There’s no reason to do something like that to a nobody like

Chapter 52 - Transfer Student
"Lexi!" I turned around after hearing that voice. It was Mitch. He ran towards me with his usual bright smile. He was still crying yesterday; what happened to him?   "Until when are you going to be gloomy? Let's welcome this brand new day and be happy." Mitch said while we walked towards our classroom; he sounds like he's faking it, but I didn't mention it since he must be having a hard time.   I haven't seen Ezra for a while now, and I couldn't even get mad at Jasper for what he did because I was too occupied with our loss.   "Cheer up." Mitch pats my back as he says that. I can see how hard it is for Mitch to say that to me because he's also blaming himself for why we lost the last match.   Mitch was put in as a pinch server since coach Alfred saw something about his serves and wanted to use it as a weapon, but Mitch failed a couple of times. He was depressed as soon as the competition was over.

Chapter 53 - Hang Out
Dismissal arrived, and since we don't have club activities for today, we can go home early. "I'm sorry, Lexi. I really need to go to the science lab because of that incident." Mitch said while rubbing his palms in front of me and having this apologetic expression on his face.   I chuckled as I pat his shoulder. "Don't worry. It's not like I can't go home on my own, or do you want me to wait—"    Royce wrapped his arm around Mitch's shoulder. "No need Alexis. I'm going to accompany him." With that, I bid them my goodbye. I checked my phone before leaving the classroom to see if Lean texted me about Lia's schedule.    I already told her that I wouldn't don't have practice for today, and she didn't say anything, so I thought she'd be texting me the details.    Guess I don't have anything to do for today. Maybe I should try the new clothes I ordered the order day, it came as soon as I orde

Chapter 54 - Moving Forward
The hangout Jasper wanted to do finally happened, and it didn't come out as he wanted it to. Instead of playing around with me, Jasper and Ezra became competitive whenever they talked to each other. I can't understand their reasons, but they started playing as if it cost their lives.  "Whoever wins this game will have their alone time with Alexis," Jasper said, which made my forehead crease. Why is this guy using me as a trophy? What would they even benefit from having alone time with me? Constipation due to the awkwardness? Anyway, they had their fun; that's how that hangout ended.  With Ezra winning all the games and Jasper became a sore loser. On their last bet, the one who'll win shall be the one that will accompany me home. And since Ezra won all of it, we went home together.  It's been so long since we last walked like that with no one but us. It was an awkward yet blissful feeli

Chapter 55 - Back on My Feet
It's Ezra. The guy we've wanted to show up for a while now. He's smiling at me, I know he must be feeling all good now, but how come it didn't feel that way the more I stare at his face? I didn't react to what he said and just continued staring at him.    I met Ezra yesterday, but why do I feel like it's been so long since I last saw him? Now that I'm staring at him, I think he has lost weight. Is he okay?   Ezra chuckled. "Why are you looking at me as if you've seen a ghost?"    Basically, he is a ghost. Ezra ghosted all of us. "By the way, what are you doing here? The bell will ring soon; shouldn't you be in class?" He reminded me when I didn't respond with what he said, which made me remember Mitch's strawberry bread.    The very reason why I left the classroom and went back here towards the rooftop. I rushed back towards the rooftop and searched for the bread, and thank god it was

Chapter 56 - New Captain and a New Team
After Dwight said that, all eyes went in Ezra's direction. So the second years have decided already? Even though everyone agreed with what Dwight said, coach Alfred hesitated as he watched Ezra's expression. He must be on edge because Ezra just came back, and he's already being slapped by that information.    The coach might have thought that this was too fast, and Ezra might run away again. That's what I also thought before Ezra and I met on the rooftop.    With the unwanted attention, Ezra stood up from sitting on the floor. "I don't think I'm good enough for that position." He said, which didn't surprise everyone.    Ezra's a happy-go-lucky guy and free-spirited, which is why I don't think he suits the position as the team captain either. That was if we're not going to mention the fact that he's the best player in our team, and his plays could lead the team on its own.  &

Chapter 57 - The Moon Looks Beautiful, Isn't It?
Ugh, I feel like I'm going to die.    "This could be the reason for my death. Please bury me with happiness."    I was surprised to hear Mitch say those words for the first time. He's been doing his best to not complain while we all train, and this is the only time I heard him say something like that.    We've had rigorous training the past few weeks, and tomorrow will be the first-ever break from it since it's the first week of September, which means the Sports Festival.    "I'm glad I didn't join any ball games. I'm thankful for those who put me in the scavenger hunt game." Mitch said that's also the only game I joined since they wouldn't let the varsity members play ball games if they already belong to the school's official teams.    I don't understand why but they said it'll be fair for those who don't play to shine independently. What does that even

Chapter 58 - Scorching Sports Festival
"It's too hot."  I heard Mitch complain. We're currently on our way to the gymnasium where the basketball game will be held. "Just endure it," I told him, but Mitch continued grunting while fanning himself.  Today's weather is extreme, I admit that. The scorching sun outside makes me want to bathe in a large pool of ice water where I can stay cold all the time. Though that's not scientifically possible since I might die due to the cold, I would still prefer that instead of this. At least we're going to stay in the gymnasium and not in the field where it's hotter.  I didn't even know my legs could sweat, too; I just discovered it now and could feel my jogging pants getting wet. This is why I hate hot weather; I wish it would just rain, but it'll ruin the games in the field, so that cannot happen. But I would still rather rest than play any more games. "GO, ARIES!" T

Chapter 59 - Uninvited Guest
I gulped as I nodded. It feels weird, but it might get weirder if I start lying at this point to Irish about what I know about Ezra and Irish's relationship.    Irish scoffed, which caught me off-guard. "You're that person? His important person…." I couldn't hear what she said after that. Is she angry at me? Because that's what I feel with how she scoffed like that.    Should I be scared now? But why would she be mad at me? Because I know she has a stalker?    The silence that came after made me feel a chill come down on my back, and I thought it was the gust coming out of the window, but there wasn't anything coming from there.    Only the sound of loud cheers from the field filled my ears, and the hallway we were in was enveloped in silence that I might throw up because of the pressure I'm feeling right now. Is Irish mad at me? Please don't be mad at me.&n
