The voice of a female soloist seared through and sped down the spines of all and sundry sat in the train. The journey to Thebes was a smooth and easy one. No prying eyes on him and no stop between checkpoints to remind him of his age and supposed vulnerability. The double coach bus struggled all it could against the rock hard road beaten to hardness by the hazy weather.
