Chapter 20.
~Malia~ ”And what if I don’t help you? Since you didn't ask me to,”  Avery lifted her head, clenching her jaw, her lips forming a thin line as though she was keeping herself from saying something she would regret.    A smirk came upon Ravens' face as she nodded her head approvingly. We all stood flabbergasted at what had just occurred. Raven had asked Avery a question, received no answer and yet it was as though the silence was an answer in itself.  ”Show me the way,” Raven said with a pleased grin. ”Wait, that’s it? I wanna hear what would happen if she didn't help,” the guy, Lucas said. The older guy that I knew to be Fredrick smacked him on the back of his head.  ”She

Chapter 21.
~Avery~ I looked at Alex, his eyes pleading for me to tell him something he wanted to hear, I knew what I had too do and I wasn't going to let anyone else suffer for it.  I looked around the field, my family looking back at me. The moon was gleaming but all I could see was darkness and despair. Many times it wasn't what the eye could make out, but what our mind was telling us too envision and for me it wasn't pretty. The clouds were ash-colored as they sat thick up on the dark sky, the moon a ball of mass that didn't glow as it usualy did, and around me the green grass didn't sway in the wind, it looked burnt, dead and hopeless.  I looked back at Alex and hoped that one day he would forgive me. ”I’m ready,” I said aloud, Alex eyes fell but before he could interject I pushed him back with every ounce of strength I had. His body was tossed ba

Chapter 22.
My breathing got heavier and I felt a sweat break out on my forehead.  My palms were burning and an incisional pulsating-need spreading down my core and stopping at my folds were i was getting wetter and wetter by the second. I squeezed my legs shut and blinked several times, when I looked up I saw James worried eyes and within the second he was in front of me, holding me up. As we touched, his eyes grew dark and his voice got low and husky.  ”Shit,”   ”I don’t know what’s happening,” I breathed out, cringing as I heard my raspy voice.  I saw a devilish smirk on the Alphas face, I grew irritated at his amusement, seeing as I had no idea what my body was doing.   ”I think I do, and I'm glad as fuck that you foolishly saved me right now,” I was stuck in confusion, not understati

Chapter 23.
”I’m so sorry, it completely slipped my mind,” ”I get it, its been a lot lately and the ceremony hasn't been a priority, but it’s time, everything is set up and they're just waiting for you now,”  I gulped and eyed Amber and the others with the awkwardness I felt within.  ”I hate being the center of attention,” ”Well, it is a Luna ceremony and you are the Luna so unfortunately there isn't a way for you to not be the center of attention,” Lisa said, trying to ease my nerves but failing miserably. The yellow laced dress was beautiful, the cups would hold my breast while the lace laid on top.  The silhouette was pulled in around the waist, almost like a corset and it flowed elegantly down on the floor like a golden waterfall. I grabbed it from Ambers hands and looked in awe at the

Chapter 24.
~James~   One day.  One day to be all about Avery, surrounded by the people who love her, initiating her in to the pack as their Luna, as my Luna without any damage, fighting, drama or pain. Was that too much to ask for?   Her eyes had turned black, her pupils dilated and her whole body was shaking as she fell to the ground. When she whispered for me to help her, I felt my heart stopped for a second.  She was clawing at her chest, drawing blood. Alex had been quick to get at her side, pining her hands down but I hadn't seen him in the crowd.  His hair was tousled and he never left without fixing it like all the other girls.    She was screaming in agony, all the pack members h

Chapter 25
~James~   ”What is going on?”  ”Malias family called, they want her back, another job they said,”   ”Job?” I looked at Malia and saw her defeated expression. ”There is a lot I haven't told you about my family but I will the next time I see you, for now, just let me go,”  Amber took a step back, her eyes fell and she looked broken. ”Of course, let us know if there is anything you need,”  ”I will, thank you for everything,”  Malia walked over to Amber who turned her face away. Malia placed a kiss on her cheek, wiping away a few tears of her own. As they walked to the door, Malia turned around. ”I will be back, nothing could ever keep me from getting back to you,”

Chapter 26.
~James~ ”When Malia was twelve, her parents thought they'd try and see what Malia was capable of and since she didn't have her wolf, they started beating her until she got angry enough to fight back. They could've given her some of their blood to speed up the healing process but instead, they tossed her back in her room, chained her to the bed, and left her to heal on her own. Malia never fought back because she couldn’t. She didn't know her strength, she had no guidance and no one to help her through her shifting. When she turned of age and got her wolf, she couldn't shift because she was chained up in silver. So her parents brought her outside and waited until she had shifted. For a born werewolf, the shifting is already painful enough, breaking every bone in your body, bending your will to fight the pain, the screams of agony, I've witnessed it. But for a vampire who is used to practically not feeling pain at all, ever, and then being turned to something

Chapter 27.
~Avery~   James had gone downstairs after spending the better part of three hours thrusting into me from every different position there was. This heat was becoming much more inconvenient as time went by.    He had appointed me to room-lock down, something about the other male wolves in the pack not being able to control their urges.    Now that the heat had subsided my mind was beginning to work again and the story of Malias' childhood was causing me to feel all kinds of emotions- most of all rage.    ’ You need to control that’   You heard what Raven said, Xena, don’t tell me you don't wanna rip their throats out   ’ I do but I can control myself, can you say the same thing about yourself?’

Chapter 28.
~Avery~ ”It’s telling me to run,”   Ambers eyes grew colder, darker, and more distant than they had been before. Her entire body posture went from slumped to rigid and Ambers hands pulled away as she got up on her feet and walked out of the room.  Left behind was the cold loneliness I wanted to prevent, I thought telling Amber the truth would set me free in a sense, that I wouldn't be alone. But here I was, on the verge of a breakdown, alone.    I couldn't cry because nothing would come out, I felt numb and fearful. Afraid of what lay ahead.  Everyone was dealing with their own issues and everyone was on edge due to the upcoming war so I understood, but they dealt with it so regally. They knew of the dangers and their demons, we all had them, but they were han

Chapter 29.
~Avery~ ”If you wanted to kill me, there are tastier ways to do it,” I said and slowly opened my eyes. The light was blinding and my vision was blurred.  White dots were forming before me, blurry and un-symmetric as they bubbled closer together. I shut my eyes and shook my head, trying to regain my composure, I willed my eyes too slowly flutter open, letting them adjust to the lighting and once they had, I felt great.  No more nausea, no stomach ache and no heat.  ”How do you feel?” Natashas hand was on my shoulder, her thumb slowly stroking me as she helped me to the couch.  ”Much better, thank you. What was that?” ”A mix of herbs and-” Natasha paused for a beat, her eyes darting between me and the cup.
