Chapter 30.
~Avery~ We sat there and talked, a few moments were silent and peaceful-something we all seemed to appreciate. ”Isn’t it hard for you, being away from Carlos?”  Natasha scoffed and looked at the clock.  ”He will be here in a few hours, there is no way that man would let me leave without coming here to find me. He’s with the pack during the days and then comes here at night. On the other hand, I wouldn't ever forgive him if he didn't come, we need each other and a single night away is one night too many,”  ”I hear that,” Amber said lowly. She missed Malia and I understood her. Being away from James before was excruciating and considering they weren't marked either, the fear of losing the bond was there, I knew it because I had felt it too. So I could imagine the pain Amber was g

Chapter 31.
”WHERE THE FUCK HAVE YOU BEEN?” James roared as he slammed his fists down on his desk. His eyes were glowing and Blade had surfaced, just as pissed as his human.    Fredric, Alex, and Raven were there too and I could see the same amount of worry and anger in Alex's eyes.  Raven, however, seemed madder at Amber so I was glad that she too got some of the heat. I winced and stepped forward.  ”We went to see Natasha,” I looked back and saw Natasha standing there looking as cool as ever, not bothered a single bit by the tension that was growing. I groaned and looked back at my mate. ”There is a war happening any day now and you decide to leave the pack without a single word? How stupid are you, Avery?” Alex spat his words and his hands were shaking, I could tell he was just as mad as James but

Chapter 32.
~Avery~ My patience was running thin and this chaotic group of idiots, whom I loved very much, weren't helping the situation. James took long slow strides towards me and stopped only when my chest was pressed up against his.  ”There she is,” he whispered before walking past me and taking a seat.    ”Throwing blame and screaming your guts out won't get you anywhere. We understand that we fucked up, and I am very, truly, undeniably sorry for the pain we caused you by leaving, but we had a good reason for it. I told Amber what I’ve been going through and I'm going to give you all a re-cap.” I sighed and looked at all of their faces, one by one they all started paying me their undivided attention and I no longer feared to tell the truth because I now knew how to handle it.   ”I’ve been fighting this darkness wi

Chapter 33.
~Avery~  I was standing outside Alex's door, I took a deep breath before knocking three times. When he didn't answer, I turned the handle and let the door slide open.  Laying on the bed with Raven on top of him, I could tell he knew I was there in the room.  I cleared my throat and Ravens' head turned, her eyes widened and her cheeks became flustered as she saw me. I lifted a brow and placed my hands on my hips.  ”May I have a moment with him?” I said and waited for Raven to leave. She hurriedly picked up her clothes and ran out of the room.  Alex scoffed and moved up on the bed, resting his back against the wall.  ”You’re on fire with the ’ruiner of good moments’, a new nickname maybe?

Chapter 34.
~Avery~ ”This wasn't out of spite, Avery,” Natasha spoke after twenty minutes of torturous silence. ”Why did you take her away?”  ”I didn’t, she’s still there only she is dormant so you can't sense her and vice versa,” I sighed and shook my head.  ”But why?” Another few moments passed where she didn't speak. I couldn't tell whether it was to build suspense or if she just wanted to get on my nerves, but she was succeeding with the ladder.  ”This darkness you’re feeling, has it grown since James told you about your wolf?” Natasha was looking ahead as we walked deeper into the forest. I looked at James and he offered a small smile before turning his head and looking forward. He reached out and grabbed my hand, giving it a light squeeze. I looked down on our entwined fingers, still in awe a

Chapter 35.
~Amber~   I still didn't know how to feel about Natasha taking Xena away from Avery. I couldn't even imagine what that must feel like, to have your wolf gone from your mind and having to rely on human strength to survive. But then again, Avery wasn't normal.   Xena was dormant so that Avery could get a better handle on her witchy side, wielding magic and all that. If Avery masters her magic and then has Xena as well, she’ll be one of- if not the most powerful Luna ever to exist.    I smiled as I drew the blanket tighter around myself. I was sitting in the common area, staring at the dark tv screen. I was going to watch a movie but then advised against it when after twenty minutes I still couldn't choose. Malia was good at that, at choosing something and going with it right away.   Stella, how are you?

Chapter 36.
~Amber~ ”Why are you a mess?” I was confused, too me it was obvious and Raven had been here for a while now, seeing a lot of the shit that had unfolded, how could she ask me that? ”Talking about it, saying it out loud will take some of its power away, it will take some of the weight of you,” I sighed and my shoulders slumped. ”It’s just everything…First, it was Crow that we fought and we won but there was loss and sorrow amongst us still from that day. I found Malia- my mate- and suddenly everything felt right again, like a part of me had been missing and she was the piece that made me whole. Malia left, leaving me in pieces, then she came back, the whole story of James getting sick and Avery going kamikaze on all of us, then she saved him- Avery saved my brother's life and I will be forever grateful for that. Then Malia left and Avery got weird before she told me what had happened and we went to Natasha who didn't have any b

Chapter 37.
~Avery~   I had been cooped up in my bedroom for the past two days, James came when it was time to sleep, and then he was gone in the morning. I was awake when he came, and I was awake when he left, I couldn't sleep nor think knowing there was a lethal distance growing between the two of us.  He and I were supposed to be able to go through everything together, all ups and downs but I couldn't wish to have him near me right now. I hurt him, I hurt the man I live to love. I had almost hurt a lot of people over the last month and who was to say that I wouldn’t still?   James tried talking to me but I didn't respond, he tried explaining why they did what they did, why he ordered everyone to ignore me, and why he and Natasha had concocted these plans behind my back. Natasha had tried speaking to me as well but they were both wasting their breaths, there was nothing

Chapter 38.
The rope was hanging still from the ceiling. My eyes were fixated on it, my hands clenched together and my jaw as tense as it had ever been.  ’Make the rope move’ she said. I had been trying to do so for over an hour and the closest I got to making it move was when the door opened and a gust of wind blew in, making it dangle back and forth slightly.    The annoyance was starting to get to me, to handle your magic was to simultaneously handle your emotions and your thoughts- which might've sounded easier than it was.  I tried different techniques, I tried closing my eyes and envisioning it, I tried holding my hands out allowing the power to exude out through my fingertips. Neither had worked and so here we were, with the third and final try.    James was standing behind m

Chapter 39.
~Avery~ ”It’s good to see you again-” He stopped mid-sentence and narrowed his eyes, a devilish smirk creeping up as he made a ’tsk’ sound with his tongue. ”-Congratulations,” he said. I was left puzzled and once I had regained the ability to speak, I tilted my head to the side, crossed my arms over my chest, and looked him dead in the eye. ”Congratulations on what?” I asked him. ”Aha… I see. It isn't for me to tell although it explains a lot about your predicaments. Nevertheless, I don't have much time with you, so ask away.” Crow lowered his body, it looked like he was sitting down, and from nothing- a chair emerged on which he sat.  How in the world did he do that? ”Please, have a seat.” He said and gestured with his hand. I looked in front of him and saw how tiny bits of dust were gathering and forming a chair, centered in front of him.&nbs
