Ami just felt like giving up, but she kept telling herself that is was stupid, she didn't seem to be badly hurt, she was sore yes and had some bruises, but she could move arms and legs and nothing felt broken. She didn't know how long you could go without water, but it was hot, dry and dusty and she didn't think that made it better. When the third after-shock hit, she didn't even react, it was a lot less violent than the other ones, but she still heard the debris move around. The dust settled and suddenly she realised that it wasn't as dark as it

Amelia had dozed off and was awakened by someone rummaging about, she wanted to yell for help, but her voice wouldn't work, she could only manage a small squeaky noise. She was pretty sure she was hallucinating, because that sounded like Josh, but it couldn't be, he couldn't possibly be there. But then she heard a voice she could never be mistaken about, it was Connor, he was okay and he was here, he had come for her. "Connor". Her voice was very weak and raw, barely audible more than a couple of feets from her mouth, she mustered all her energy and called again. "Connor ! I'm here".

"Connor, stay here with Josh, I am going to go get Luke and ask if they have a gurney". Ami gave him a quick kiss and stood up. It was pretty clear his first instinct was to tell her to stay and go himself, it was the little bit of Alpha still in him trying to stay in charge. But then he sighed, clearly having realised that she was in much better shape than him right now. Luckily there was room for the helicopter to land only about 100 feets away and Ami ran to meet Luke as he exited, she was a little surprised when she saw him, he looked much younger and more fragile than she had expected from respect the guys seemed to have for him.

Amelia paced the room, it was so frustrating just having to wait, Luke was sitting in a chair, his feet drawn up and arm around his knees, looking very vulnerable and young.  It had been a fight beyond belief to get Connor to go into surgery, he wanted to stay near Josh, awaiting news.  In the end Amelia had had to put her foot down and he had reluctantly given in, accepting that he could do nothing to help Josh. He clearly hated not being able to actively do something.  Actually she would have preferred to be the one under anaesthetic and not having to wake up when this nightmare was over.

She knew what it was even before pulling it out, and she turned and looked at Connor with confusion. "This is not your phone". "Nah you might be right, could you come over here for a minute ?" He looked at her, his eyes clearly showing how nervous he was. She walked over to him slowly and handed him the little box. "So you weren't just high on the painkillers ?" "Darling I might have been a bit doped up, but I have no problem remembering what I said and I don't want to waste any more of my life". He looked at her very seriously.
