Chapter 21
THE SECOND meeting with that man in the coffee shop where I work never happened again, which I am grateful for. I prayed to never see him again after the first time we met when he first used me, and I think my prayer failed once because we met again in the coffee shop that night when I made my duty. One week had passed, and I believe the days I spent working full-time at the coffee shop to earn more bonuses were not in vain. And from the day I start my task and am assigned as a secretary to the company, I'll be back in the night shift because I'll be a secretary during the day. That same night, following my encounter with that man, my professor also sent me a document in a brown envelope containing everything I needed for this task. According to one of the files, I'll be working for the Saavedra company, which was a little surreal. When my professor sent me an email, I assumed he was joking or made a typograp

Chapter 22
DREAM big because it’s free to do so. This is something I've learned as I've gotten older. Why limit yourself to dreaming small when you can dream big? Don't restrict yourself. Overcome your limitations. Step outside of your comfort zone. I know I'll still face a lot of challenges in life, especially since I'm still so young. I even cried hard because I was frustrated with myself for not knowing what I wanted or who I wanted to be in the future when I was in high school. And now I'm almost there, in my dream that I always look up to, the dream that was always running through my head.  The moment I realized I'd be working for the Saavedra company, it felt surreal. I promised myself that I'd do my best here, but I'm still not the person I've always wanted to be. We'll make it. Just hang on a little longer. Even if I pass the board exam and am not hired by this company, I will be the happiest. At the very least, I used to work as a s

Chapter 23
AT 5 a.m., I AM AWAKENED BY THE TONE OF MY PHONE ALARM. I still didn't want to get out of bed because I was tired from sleeping late the night before to finish those papers. I had no idea that my first day as a secretary would be a living hell. I can't believe it's only the first day and I'm already exhausted! So, with sleepy eyes, I attempted to get out of bed and make my way to the kitchen to prepare breakfast. Yes, I prepare breakfast in the morning. I'm not going to be late. I promised you I'd do my best as a secretary. It's better to start early than late. For breakfast, I simply prepare rice, fried hot dogs, and fried eggs. After I finished cooking, I went to the bathroom to take a bath and change into a short and plain t-shirt. When I returned to the kitchen, Bella had already finished her bath and was wearing a short and a sando on top, wiping her hair with a towel to dry it a little. "Good m

Chapter 24
"ARE YOU kidding me!?" I yelled once when I snapped back to reality, still not believing the surprise. Because I was breathing heavily, my chest moved up and down. I was now telling all the saints I could think of that this was just a joke, but half of me knew it wasn't. And I have no choice but to accept the fact that the man in front of me, whom I had previously encountered and argued with, has now become my boss. "Well, well, well..." He was grinning like a fool, which I despise. "The world allowed us to meet. Again. I'm sure this is fate, isn't it?" I scoff and can't help but roll my eyes after hearing his last statement. "You may wish." I know I told myself that this company was my dream company that I had always wanted to work for, and I will do my best to show them that I am worth hiring for the last architect position. But I've changed my mind and would like to call my professor right now and beg him to simply transfer me to another company. I didn't care if the company was

Chapter 25
I WAS PANTING HARD and gasping for air. I tried to calm myself once I was out of my boss's office. Something heavy lifted from my chest the moment I walked out of that damn room. I returned to my cubicle and sat in my chair, still trying to calm myself. Because of my angry breathing, my chest was moving up and down. When I finally calmed down, I realized I had gone beyond my capabilities. I wasn't supposed to say those words because I admitted that he was still my boss and that I was just his secretary. It was my responsibility to do everything he said, and I had no right to refuse. And my initial reaction was over. That, I believe, is due to my stressful job. It was only two days here, but the stress level was nearly 100 percent. I wash my face with my hands, frustrated by the realization that washed over my system that my boss will punish me by giving me a lot of work loads or simply choosing to throw me out of this building, causing me to fail this year because of my overreaction

"TELL ME... tell me I'm misinterpreting things."My world seemed to collapse the moment I said those words. Because of the unexpected shock, I couldn't breathe properly. I wish... I wish this was just a dream, and I beg you to please wake me up right now.I'm at a loss for words.I was speechless, and my mind was struggling to find the right words to say. I could even feel my eyes watering, but thankfully, I was still able to stop those terrifying tears from falling from my eyes.My chest moved up and down, still unable to believe what I had just witnessed. My name was written on the paper, along with my signature. It wasn't just any old piece of paper, either; it was a marriage certificate. Oh my goodness, I don't even have a boyfriend and I'm married?! You've got to be kidding!I just got some fantastic and significant news. I just broke up with my boyfriend not long ago, and now I find out I'm married to someone I didn't even know about. Furthermore, there is proof! I honestly beli

“WELL, THERE’S only one way to find out,” Keandrick responded and take out his expensive phone, waving it in front.I raised a brow at him in confusion, didn’t get the idea he was trying to express but instead to feed my confused self, he turned his gaze to his phone’s screen and dialed someone’s number. I sat in the visitor's chair and turned my head away from Keandrick's eyes so he wouldn't see my flushed face. He had been staring at me for so long that I was about to get up and leave his office to calm down because I felt like I couldn't breathe. a stranger who appears to be his age. I lost my desire to leave the room.“Good day, dear friend!" A man uttered.“Whoa! All I wanted to do was hug you, dude. You must have missed your friend." Chapter 29
THE WORD marriage was a big word for me. If ever you’ll enter into the sacrament of marriage, you must be ready for the lifetime commitment because marriage wasn’t just a stage of life where you wanted to marry someone at first then if you get tired, you’ll leave him or her. In the stage of marriage, there was no room for playing. People weren’t playing at this stage. Before two people enter this stage, you two must be very sure that you love each other and that both are willing to enter into a lifetime commitment. Being married to someone was the starting point where you will be building a family with your partner. Before you marry someone, ask yourself first, “Am I ready to commit?” Because as I said, this is the stage of our lives where there’s no turning back. Some people were getting divorced from their partners because, in the first place, they weren’t truly ready for the commitment, that they think married life was easy but it wasn’t. I said to myself that if ever I finally g

I’M PRETTY sure that Keandrick would find a way of getting out of the mess that I brought. I think I am bad luck here because ever since I entered the picture, I brought a mess to him. Yeah, what luck. After the confirmation of that fucking real marriage certificate by Darwin, my mind was like wandering in another universe, still processing these unending weird happenings around me. While Keandrick on the other side, immediately called someone on the phone I assumed that he was going to file an annulment of this so-called marriage thing I’ll be thanking him for that but that will be after if we get successfully annulled. Darwin teases his friend before we took separate paths to get to our supposed work. Well, it was just Darwin who left since he has a lot of work to do on his list. Keandrick must be grateful for having a friend like him who could spend a little of his time helping his friend’s problem. “See you around some other time, Audrey! I’ll update you two if there’s any prog
