Chapter Fifty One
“She made the trip out instead of Bryan,” David’s muffled voice said from inside the hatch. “Oh, I know who you are. David mentioned you….a lot. There was an issue with one of the tour boats. Had to take precedence,” Mavis explained. She sat on the padded bench and scooted over to make room for Bonnie. “And seeing as I have the next forty-eight hours off, I thought I’d do a few favors and come help this pirate find his way. I grabbed a few hours of sleep, then took a boat. Sorry if we woke you up.” “Don’t be.” Bonnie felt a tinge of guilt at having neglected her morning duties. She’d begun to enjoy the schedule she and David had established together. “I’m not clear headed just yet. Give me a minute.” She quickly poured some coffee. Two sips later, she felt the day shift into focus. “Okay, that’s better.” She sighed in a way that had Mavis grinning. “Oh, yeah,” Mavis said. “You and I are going to get along fine.” Bonnie smiled. Any unease she might have felt at her melted away. “H

David stayed where he was and avoided Mavis’s probing gaze as Mandy and Bonnie went below deck. He didn’t have time for the regret surging through him. He’d known from the moment he’d made love to her that he needed to find a way to get her off his boat, especially after that awkward conversation they had. Leave it to Mavis to unintentionally give him the out he needed. “Hold up there, Dave.” Mavis stooped down and grabbed his arm before he could resume his repairs. “What’s going on, David?” “I need to work on my boat,” David explained, but there was no point in trying to hide anything from Mavis. Sometimes she knew him almost better than he knew himself. “Please. You’ll have this thing up and running in a few hours. You’re trying to get rid of her. Why? You two are not getting along?” She narrowed her eyes. “Or maybe you’re getting along too well.” He and Mavis had one rule between them. They didn’t lie to each other. That meant, at this moment, it was better to stay silent. Bett

“I left you the book you started. And a few others.” Bonnie shrugged. “If I missed anything else I guess I’ll see you in a couple days.” He didn’t miss the detached tone in her voice. “I appreciate you bringing me here. The journey has been amazing and the adventure I hoped it would be.” “We’ll go wait on the boat.” Mavis gave Mandy a substantial push to wipe the curious expression off the teenager’s face. “Move it, Man.” she said. “No fair. It was just getting good.” Mandy grumbled. Bonnie tucked a strand of hair behind her ear and looked at David. “This is because I asked you where we go from here, isn’t it? You're pushing me away because I asked if we have a future together?” “Me sending you off with Mavis?” He could lie to her. He probably should, if for no other reason than he didn’t want to think about her leaving with that sad and disappointed look in her beautiful eyes, but he couldn't lie. “Partially. You need to get unstuck, Bonnie.” “From what? From you? And who determ

Chapter Fifty Four
One of those lies Mavis predicted he’d tell himself, David supposed. But it was one he could live with. It would soften the blow for whatever was going to happen. He settled in on the deck of Blue Blood, sipping his beer, Duchess perched on the railing beside him, and drifted off to sleep beneath the rising moon. And dreamed of going home to Bonnie. —------------ David was finally ready to begin his journey to High Tide Harbor when he got a message notification on his phone. He opened the email, and was pissed when he saw who the message came from. David hissed. Same unknown guy who had been sending those threatening messages. The idiot had given up for a while only to return now…probably to resume those empty threats. His eyes quickly scanned the message and his heart dropped into his stomach. The message read: 'You probably thought that I had forgotten about you, and I don't blame you. I was just waiting for the perfect time to strike….Trying to figure out what to do to hurt

Chapter Fifty Five
Bonnie had just stepped out of the shower and into the room when the door flung open and David stepped inside and shut the door behind him. She was so startled that she almost let go of the towel she had wrapped around her body. Bonnie glared at him as she took a step back in shock. "Jeez. What the fuck is wrong with you David?" she asked, "What are you doing? You scared the hell out of me. Don't you know how to knock?" David said nothing, but his eyes were glued on her. She looked fucking sexy, with her hair tied up in a messy bun and her hands wrapped around her, gripping the loosely tied towel against her breasts. It only pushed them upward, making them even more pronounced and after spending hours away from her, David admitted to himself that he had missed her terribly. “What are you doing?” Bonnie asked again and lifted an inquisitive eyebrow. "And why are you back so fast? I thought you would still be fixing the boat?" David shook his head as if he was waking up from a tr

“I wonder why that is…since you don't care” Bonnie said. He came to stand in front of her, his eyes blazing with anger, “I never said that i don't care he said, “You can say all you want, but don't twist my words. “Actions speak louder than words, David. ''Bonnie retorted, “You have been looking for ways to get rid of me for a while now, and now you finally have a reason so I'll leave but I still stand my ground. I’m not going back to my dad. You can take me back to my place and I'll stay out of your way from now on.” “Are you just trying to annoy me?” David asked, unable to hide his frustration any more. “Believe me when i say this, David. The way you feel right now is the least of my concerns. You said i’m a target because of you, i’m sure i’ll be safe when i’m away from you” He stiffened. “That's not how it works” “That's my decision, David. You better take it and stay out of my way. Now if you will excuse me, I need to get dressed so please leave. I need some privacy, and p

"Fuck it," David swore and got up from the couch. When he headed towards the bed, Bonnie froze. He was wearing nothing but a pair of shorts and he never took his eyes off her as he climbed onto the bed and hovered above her. "What is your problem, Bonnie?" He asked. "I don't have a problem. You're a the one who has a problem" "Well then, do you mind telling me what my problem is? “I will" Bonnie shot back and lifted her body so she was balanced on her elbows. The position brought her dangerously close to David, but she didn't care, determined to try to talk some sense into him. "You problem is that you're afraid of being happy. You're afraid of letting go and letting someone in. You build this…. Annoying wall around yourself and end up pushing everyone who cares about you away and you make excuses for it… like your job and shit like that, but the truth is that you're just afraid of people leaving. You feel like you are better off if you are not attached to anyone and that's ju

Chapter Fifty Eight
He dipped his head as he used his hands to spread her legs wider, exposing her fully to his view and taste. He ran his hands up her inner thigh until he slid a finger into her core while his tongue pleasured her skin. Her shoulders came off the mattress then as she screamed his name. David stuck his tongue out, and licked her from slit to starfish, and back again. She had a nice taste and David licked and licked, knowing that this might be his last time with her. Probably the last time he would ever touch her again. He kept one hand stroking either her back or her legs, keeping constant contact. It was only about five minutes and Bonnie was pushing her butt into his face, moving her thighs around, and she was even creaming on his tongue. She was moaning, but in a way that she certainly was self-conscious about making too much noise. After all, this was a hotel. She came all over his face, and David knew that it was time for him. David stood up, and as Bonnie tried to stand up, He p

"Then go find whoever you are looking for. I don't care." Bonnie retorted, "But there is no way in hell I'm going back home with another one of you guys. I have had enough already." She pointed an accusing finger in his direction. "And you know what, David? You should really listen to me and take lessons in communication because you suck at it. What is with you and wanting to make every fucking decision for me without talking to me about it first?" "Excuse me, Mike," David said, nodding in the direction of his friend, before grabbing Bonnie by her arm and pulling her away so they could talk without Michael hearing their conversation. "Damn it, Bonnie!" he said, gritting his teeth, "What is the matter with you? I do that because you're so fucking stubborn. You never want to listen because you always want things to go your way. You fight me on everything so I think it's just better this way. And even after that, it's still so fucking hard." Bonnie yanked her hand out of his grip

It was more of a statement than a question and David wondered how and when he became so transparent about his feelings. Did people always see through him this easily? Had he always been that way or did this just apply to Bonnie. He had a feeling that it did. He also knew that there was no point denying it to George so he didn't even try. "Oh gosh, man. You're in love with her, aren't you?" George asked and David flinched. "That's what this is all about. It's why you're finally taking this so serious. I get it now. I was wondering why they would treathen a client to get to you and now I finally understand." David shook his head. "It doesn't matter," he said, and hoped that he sounded convincing enough to make-up George stop talking. He didn't obviously, because George didn't stop talking about it. "I knew it" he said, almost as if he was enjoying the whole thing. "I knew when the right woman came along, you'd fall so hard. I said so. Didn't I? You love Bonnie Rimmer." Bonnie, D
