Chapter 51 : Unwanted Encounters
"I don't know, do you think it's too much? Or is the color a bit much?" As I stood in front of the mirror, I let my eyes observe every detail of the elegant dress reflected there. My body was gently embraced by the metallic silver Channel brand dress, creating an alluring silhouette. Delicate spaghetti straps crisscrossed the shoulders, adding a feminine touch to the whole look. The revealing back of the dress shows the shape of my backside, creating a mysterious appeal. Every curve and detail of this dress has been meticulously designed as if to create a living work of art on my body. "I think it's beautiful," my mom said as I stood in front of the dressing room mirror. "And I'm sure Cole will think the same." She grinned as she raised both eyebrows. Then I spun around once more and caught a glimpse before smiling. "Okay, let's pick this one." I stepped into the dressing room to take the dress off and put it back on the hanger before quickly changing into my casual clothes. I move

Chapter 52 : Caught Between Demons
For a second I was frozen, and then the sound of Irish's voice pulled me out of my reverie. "It's okay," Irish said with a smile and moved to let the boys in. Here I tried to be casual, as if I didn't know them. It's so hard to do that. Honestly, I had no idea if the girls were familiar with the two demons. "So who are these lovely ladies?" Chris asked, his eyes falling on me as he put his hands on the table. His smirk showed that he already knew who I was, and it was clear from his expression that he was interested in playing games with me. "This is Mandy, Jane, and Rayline," Irish said, pointing at each girl and me, while Kody looked me up and down. "Hmm, you look familiar to me, Rayline, have we met before?" he asked me in a meaningful way and I swallowed. Whether he was pretending not to know me or just playing mind games like Chris, I could never tell. "Uh, no... I don't think we did." I fiddled with my fingers as he tilted his head. "Are you okay? Your face looks a little

Chapter 53 : Jesse's Rescue
He let go of his grip and Chris fell to the ground, gasping for breath as Jesse watched from above. Out of nowhere, Kody suddenly appeared behind Jesse, ready to strike, but Jesse moved more quickly than I could have ever imagined and caught the demon by the wrist. "Nice try, huh?" He reached up and spun around to deliver a hard punch to poor Kody's stomach, throwing him back a few feet as he screamed in pain. Then Chris stood up and lunged at Jesse, who stepped aside to easily dodge the attack before grabbing Chris' arm and twisting it. All I could hear was the snap of his arm as it slipped out of position, and Chris screamed in pain. "Cole may hesitate to hurt you, but I won't," he said through clenched teeth. It was the first time I had ever seen this side of Jesse that was so terrifying. He let go and straightened up to look at Kody, who was now sitting on the ground in a pitiful state. "I suggest you guys get the hell out of here before I get really mad at you." Wasting no ti

Chapter 54 : Dance Lessons
"I can't believe you asked me to do this," I said as I got to my feet. I caught a glimpse of a vase of pink carnations mixed with pink roses as he pushed the couch aside to make a space on the living room floor with a smile. "Your mom really liked this, huh?" I said, pointing to the vase. "Yeah, it was her favorite. It means 'never-ending love.'" He said and I smiled slightly as he straightened up. "That's why I'm her personal gardener, to make sure they don't die," he added with a shrug, and I giggled. "And she doesn't like the white ones either. She keeps telling me to throw them away," he shrugged, his tone tinged with curiosity. After he finished moving his table, he walked over and grabbed my hand, but stopped. When I noticed, it turned out he was looking at the scratches and bruises from the previous day. "What happened?" he asked worriedly, pulling my hand up to look at it. "Oh, I - uhh, I fell on my way home from college yesterday," I said, trying to let out a fake laugh

Chapter 55 : Rayline's Dark Past
At that moment I was in his room because we both wanted to watch a movie after our exhausting dance practice, which was a pretty amateurish thing for me to do. So, while he was sitting at the foot of his bed, I set up a movie on his laptop. As I was typing, I heard the soft strumming of music and turned my head to see him playing his guitar. Then I get up and walk over to him, and he stops in his tracks at the sight of me. "You're really pretty good with that." And I sat down next to him on the bed, and he went back to staring at the strings of his guitar. "Well, not really. I haven't really practiced that much." "Still, it's better than I can do," I said, and he laughed. "Is that the only musical instrument you have?" "Yeah... My mom knows how much I love music, and a couple of years ago, even though we were going through some very difficult financial problems, she scraped together enough money to buy it for me for my birthday." He smiled faintly. "And after that, I tried to prac

Chapter 56 : Fluffy Moments
"Well, there it is. How does it look?" Just like that, I stood up from the bed and walked over to the mirror to take a look at the makeup on my face. "It looks great, Aunt Spencer. I like it a lot." I said while still gazing at my face through the mirror. While admiring my own face, I wondered how I could look so beautiful, I thought. It's so different from what I'm used to. Well, I guess the power of makeup can make my appearance more eye-catching. "No problem, dear, I'm glad I could help," she smiled and placed the brush and loose powder on the bedside table. Today I was getting ready to attend a party, to be exact, a party hosted by Cole's father, and I actually wasn't very confident in my makeup skills, so I was very happy when his mother offered her help. I was grateful that she chose a more natural makeup style rather than an overdo one and I felt that it suited me perfectly. "Are you going to wear your dress now?" she asked, and I turned to her. "Oh yes, can you help me zip

Chapter 57 : Meet His Father
In the car, I'm sitting next to Cole looking out the window with Cole's hand holding mine as Chase drives past the houses. Little by little, I watched the houses get bigger and bigger until everything around them was full of big houses. I knew his father was rich, but was he that rich? I stared at the buildings in awe and wonder. Looks like there's money everywhere here. Indeed, being a demon is pretty rich. Then our car passed through the entrance of a huge gate and ended up in the longest driveway I had ever seen. When I finally got a glimpse into the house, my jaw almost dropped. There was a statue in the style of a Greek god and a large fountain in front of the entrance as cars passed by, and the building itself was a classical-style mansion that was coated in white as the bright light from the party shone through all the countless windows. Meanwhile, Chase maneuvered the car into a road that was both winding and twisting, and as the car came to a stop, Cole opened the door, ext

Chapter 58 : Family Ties
At that moment, Cole walked up to a tall man in an expensive dark suit, and as soon as we got close enough to him, I could see the family resemblance right away. Of course, my guess was that Chase looked more like his mother, so it made sense that Cole would look like his father, and yet I could barely see any of Jesse's features on the man, which meant he must look more like his mother. The man was talking to someone else next to him, but his eyes were on Cole. Meanwhile, I looked back and saw Chase resting on the table, trying to blend in with the crowd, and I assumed he would stay that way. When the man finished speaking, there was a brief pause. Without hesitation, he turned quickly, his body moving elegantly and gracefully. His dark suit was neatly tailored, not a single thread out of place. His easily recognizable dark eyes glittered with curiosity, and his presence exuded an undeniable air of authority and power. "Hello, Dad," Cole says in a bland tone, and the man steps clos

Chapter 59 : Dancing with the Demon
As the two of us walked back, I looked around at the high ceilings in the hallways. I still couldn't get over the fact that this was someone's house. A demon's house, to be exact. So, here I am, standing in the demon's house, and I never thought that I would come here one day. It was beyond my imagination. Then I thought back to my conversation with Chase earlier and realized that my question about his father's aura was actually pretty silly. I must have been really stupid to ask such a question. But come to think of it, I can't be blamed for being stupid because I'm only human, right? With that thought, I shrugged and shook my head. Then, as the two of us approached the place where the rest of the party was, I turned to glance at Cole, and another question popped into my head. "Wait, if your father rules the demon world, doesn't that make you look like a prince from hell?" I asked him, looking puzzled and confused. His lips curled into a smirk as if I'd asked him the stupidest que

Chapter 60 : The Brotherhood
Jesse "They look pretty lovely, don't they?" Chase said, and I turned around to see him leaning next to me with a glass in his hand. "I guess so," I said as my eyes gazed at the dance floor. "I've never seen him like that... He looks so happy." "Mhm. Love can do strange things." He said while looking at the man who was dancing happily. "Do you think he is in love?" I asked and turned my head to look at him briefly and back at the young man who was dancing on the dance floor with a girl in his arms. "Come on," he scoffed. "That guy is already smitten." Then I let out a chuckle at his words. "What about her? You think she is in love too?" I asked, and he tilted his head. "Well, I really can't say. It seems like you know her better than I do." He turned to me as if he could see right through me. "What do you think?" With that my eyes drifted to her, especially the bright smile plastered on her face as I watched Cole twirl her body around. "Yeah..." "Yeah?" Chase asked as if seek
