Chapter 101
Troy Ever since Morella’s visit the previous day, I felt a little crack in my bond with Quinn. It wasn't too big yet, but it scared me. It would get worse if I did not attempt to heal the wound. I had some hope that we could mend the crack by being intimate – not just physically, but mentally – and indulging in what I considered a taboo fantasy helped with that a bit, but it was not enough. I didn't know if Quinn felt it, but I did. It was driving me insane. Like an itch I couldn't scratch. The itch woke me several times during the night, and every time it happened, I woke my mate up just so we could have sex or to talk to her while we cuddled. Yet, while I felt that little crack trying to heal throughout the night, it was back and bigger than ever when I woke the next morning. Ignoring my throbbing bladder, I went straight for the walk-in, eager to look at the painting while Quinn was still asleep; I needed to know if our promises and vows to each other changed anything. My hea

Chapter 102
Troy I sat on one of the chairs in the darkened cinema room, watching the hands on my watch tick away the time. I tried to mind link with Quinn once, but she was still out of it, and all I felt from her was profound terror. I feared that she would see what I was about to do, but I could not let them go. I did not see any other way that would ensure my mate stayed and did not run to my father so they could burn down the world together. My father had to go for now - it was not yet his time - but perhaps Sebastian’s end would come sooner than Morella foresaw. My heart broke a little bit every time I thought about it, but I purposefully pushed the ache in my heart to the side and tapped into the part of me that was used to killing without any mercy. I needed that side of myself more than ever before. The soothsayer came out first. “I am Soothsayer Daniel,” he introduced himself as he climbed out of the hole. “Yeah,” I said. “I don’t care. Go upstairs to the Omega quarters. Ask for a

Chapter 103
TroySomeone told the kings about Morella’s prophecy and they were trying to change the course of their destiny. That was why my father came here, why he'd take Quinn when the time came. They all knew what was going to happen to them, and they were trying everything in their power to fight against their own nature. It could work. That was the hell of it. If Morella, Eleanor, and even The Fates themselves were to be believed, it could work. That meant I'd have to change my approach. I could no longer sit back and wait for the right moment, for the day the kings would gather here at some undefined point in the future, when the princes would unite and kill their fathers in a display of solidarity.Whomever it was that blabbed did a piss poor job of it, and if I were to hazard a guess, I’d say it was Magnus. He never did fully grasp the severity of what would happen if we did not succeed. He always thought it was a battle for the ultimate throne. To be the ruler of them all, but it was ne

QuinnTroy did not go to the orchard with the others. He came straight to me after he sent the guards to prepare for the doctor’s execution. I already saw what he was going to do and I was petrified of what was to come. I also knew that any attempts to change his mind would be futile, but I'd try regardless.I shared everything with the women by my side. My sacred circle. The women that swore loyalty to me.“Why can I only see into the immediate future?” I asked as I slowly came back to full reality.Unlike the last time this happened, I wasn’t in a complete trance. I was aware of the people around me, and if I tried very hard, I could pull myself out of it, but the moment I stopped paying attention, I was sucked right back into the vision.“You can see the present, not the future,” Missus Lowry said and took my hand hers. “I had a cousin with the same talent.”“Kind of a useless gift,” I said and leaned my head back against the closet wall, staring up at one of the hidden lights in t

Chapter 105
Quinn Troy was quiet. His aura was still the same misty-grey colour, and his skin had gone a strange kind of ashy-white that reminded me of one of my teachers. The day before he had the heart attack that killed him, he looked that way. Troy listlessly pushed his food around on his plate, barely registering the world around him. Doctor Jacobs’s death was far worse than either of us expected, and Troy took it very hard. The man would not die. He clung to life like a nit clung to hair. Every time we thought that this was it, that surely the doctor couldn’t still be alive, he’d start screaming again. It wasn’t until the silver finally ate away his heart and lungs that he mercifully died. The wolves enjoyed the display of brutality, and when Mason refused to die, they whipped themselves into a frenzy of bloodlust. They whooped and hollered while they tore at their clothes like spectators at a gladiator fight. “Are you okay?” I asked my mate. He shook his head and pushed his plate

Chapter 106
Troy Arthur looked a lot like Magnus before Morella cursed him. He had had the same dark hair and dour expression on his face, but the moment he smiled his eyes lit up and that dark, dreary exterior evaporated. “Prince Troy,” he said and warmly gripped my hand in both of his, “I’ve heard so much about you.” “From whom?” I asked and shook his hand, before gently extracting it. "Nothing good, I hope." He laughed. “My brother, of course. He…betrayed you, well us now, I guess. He told our father everything.” “Yeah, I know. Sorry to be the bearer of bad news, but Magnus is dead.” "You killed him?" "He asked me to do it." Arthur nodded. “I don't blame you. I tried to warn him, but he wouldn't listen. You know...he never came home after he went to that train station.” "Morella cursed him." Arthur's eyes fell on Quinn who stood partially hidden behind me. “Your mate?” "Oh, yes." I stepped aside and pulled Quinn closer before I introduced her to the prince. “Prince Arthur she said. A

Troy I gathered the princes and their mates to tell them about our plan. Next to me, Quinn’s eyes hopped from Lycan to Lycan as she read their auras. Even though she knew I had every talent she had and could read auras just as well as she could, if not better, she needed to reassure herself that she wouldn’t be betrayed by yet another wolf. "Arthur will tell them that I captured all the princes and their mates," I said. "The kings will have no other option but to come to their rescue." I gave Ida a stern look. She wasn't very worldly, and she could easily blow the whole thing "Be careful what you say. Do not betray yourself or our secrets. Ida straightened her back and jutted out her chin while she touched the little stone hidden under her dress. “I will never betray the princess.” I smiled and nodded at her. “I know you won’t, but you made no vows to me.” “If you are harmed, it will also hurt my sister. I won’t disappoint either of you.” Quinn smiled at the young she-wolf. Her

QuinnI made my way through the bustling mansion. It had never been this busy, but the princes brought warriors with them, and we had to find a way to accommodate all of them. Most stayed with the other warriors elsewhere on the estate, and for those that could not find a bed elsewhere, Missus Lowry and Glover turned just about every other room into some kind of dorm. Most of them slept on the floor, and none of the complained about it.The only rooms that remained untouched were our bedrooms upstairs, the library, the cinema, the silver cell in the basement, and Troy’s office.I expected the influx of people to make me nervous and uncomfortable like the Lycan nobles did, but these people were different. They weren’t here to harm us, and I could feel it, see it, even smell it.I pushed the door leading to the East wing open and stepped into the Omegas’ buzzing living quarters. Music played over the loudspeakers, Omegas laughed and squealed as they ran through the corridors. Children I

Chapter 109
Troy I woke when the sharp pop of a gunshot shattered my slumber. Everything was quiet. The mansion itself barely breathed. For a moment, I lay completely still, sure that I dreamed or imagined it. Then another shot rang out. Fuck! “Quinn,” I mind linked with my mate as I fell out of bed and ran for the door, not caring that I was dressed in only my underwear. “Are you all right?” “It’s okay. I got him. Don’t worry. I’m pretty sure he’s dead. Casper’s checking now.” “Who? Who did you shoot?” “Xander Shelby.” “Where are you?” “The garden.” I ran down the hall, my feet slapping loudly on the gleaming hardwood. I flew down the stairs, taking them four at a time while I used the bannister to propel me forward. “What garden?” “The one behind the pool house. I've never seen this one before. It's kind of pretty.” What the hell was she doing there? It was hidden from the main house. I posted a few guards there to patrol it, but no one ever used the garden, and it wasn’t as well pro

Chapter 110
TroyQuinn found Dexter Maree’s frozen body behind a tree the next morning. She hadn’t said a word about her father or Xander for the rest of the night. After I braided her hair, she curled into a tight little ball and rocked herself to sleep.I wished it were someone else who found Dexter’s corpse. Strong as she was, as easy as she could shake off trauma, even Quinn had her breaking point, and I had the unsettling feeling that she would reach it soon. She kept her barriers up, making sure I couldn’t feel her. I wanted to tell her to stop doing it, that I wouldn’t be able to protect her if I didn’t know she was in danger, but she’d just worry about me becoming too obsessed with her.My mate knelt next to her dead grandfather and closed his eyes. A shiver ran down her body as her skin touched his. “Someone should go check on Jolene,” I said, and looked up at Lucas. “Go see if she died.”“Yes, Prince,” the guard muttered and dashed across the frozen grounds back to the mansion. The cold
