CHAPTER 71
Shawn’s POVIn the blood moon pack.I sat by the fire staring into it as though apparitions were communicating with me. They became bolder and bolder as the firewood cackled under the deep heat pressure it faced.I blinked to be sure my eyesight was clear and I wasn’t just seeing things, but they kept coming closer.Brown ferocious wolves covered in blood that smelled familiar. All of a sudden my shirt got drenched as heavy beads of sweat ran down my face. I began muttering a few spells that I knew could ward off those bloodthirsty beasts. I didn’t know when I got lost in the enchantment until I was tapped on for a second time.“You okay boy?” Shadowvile called hovering over me with a large chunk of meat.“Well- yeah sure,” I cleared my throat and blinked once more looking in my previous direction and around me to find traces of my constant mind tormentors but couldn’t find any.“Well, I doubt that because you look like you had just seen a goblin- or perhaps a troll,”That would be

CHAPTER 72
Shawn’s POV “Reveal yourself now or perish to peril,” I kept mute and silent. He was quiet for some moment too, before I decided to sneak past his tent. The wind blew heavily and a grain of sand found its way to my eyes. As I blinked it out and raised my head; I met bloodshot eyes flaring with anger. “What are you doing here?” he howled while he transformed back to his human form. “Um- I –I was thinking I could talk to you about something,” I stuttered as his rigid expression gradually dissolved into a sneer. “So you wanted to talk to me about those visions you always see and perhaps tell me your name too,” “Huh?” I asked, not catching a hint of his suggestion. “Here, come in and sit, it’s too cold outside,” Did he really care or was he just simply acting out generosity. “I also was going to ask you something,” “Okay, you can go first,” I muttered. “I didn’t need your permission,” he shot out dryly as red flickered in his eyes. “I need you to tell me about your wh

CHAPTER 73
Marcus’s POVI stood up from the bed and my mind was already a mess. How could she? Does she know the implications of her actions if caught? Was it because I confessed? What the hell was going on in that mind of hers?A mix of anger and hurt coursed through my heart. I never imagined I would ever love someone this much, but I did and I guess I'm bearing the consequences of loving.Maybe I should not have listened to Winston. I should have kept my feelings to myself. Confessing only seemed to have made things worse.I carefully scanned the room and noticed the windows were open, the curtains had been strongly tied to the bedpost and let down out of the window.Looking down, her window gave a beautiful view of the garden and just as I was about to shut the window, realization dawned on me - there was only one place I was sure she could’ve gone.Grayson!I stormed out of the room and made my way straight to the garden. I just hope he didn't let her go away. I would never forgive him. I h

CHAPTER 74
Marcus’s POV“What are you waiting for?” Smithson teased. He was good at turning my rage on, and if a fight was what he wanted I was surely going to give it to him.“Come on, Marcus, I'm right here” He taunted.“I do not have the time for all these, Smithson. So just hurry and answer the damn question.” I barked.“But if I do not, what are going to do?” He smirked.I ignored his question and let my eyes sweep over the environment. From where we stood, there was a good view of the village. I noticed the black lotion beside where Smithson stood and for reasons I could barely explain, I felt an indescribable anger in my heart.”You asked for it and I was just going to do just that. I promise you I am only going to give you what you deserve.” With that I growled and howled as I aimed directly at him, I didn't see what was coming next.Smithson and all of his men were fully transformed, I was surrounded by them. I didn't have the time to be calculative, I began to pounce on each wolf that

CHAPTER 75
Shawn’s POV “What the hell boy?” Shadowvale yelled. I had just recovered from the sudden attack on my mind, but here he was about to put me back in there. He lowered his rifle and walked in my direction. “I… I… I did not mean to,” I stammered as he got closer to where I crouched. The closer he came towards me, the more I crawled backward in the dirt. “I am sure you did not mean to be a boy, but this is your last warning. Miss my game again and you will regret not dying the first day I met you,” All the while, he was wearing a sinister smile as he kept approaching me till he made sure I was afraid. As he finished speaking, my heart had already accelerated far beyond its normal rate and my eyes felt like they were surely going to fall off. Seeing his desired reaction from me, Shadowvale laughed like the maniac he was and stormed off, leaving me on the cold ground. As he walked away, anger bubbled inside me and my fists were turning white from the pressure I had put on it. I

Shawn's POV I needed to thread this with wisdom, to make the right decision. I looked at Shadowvale's face, his expressions were unreadable, but his brown eyes were obviously very cold and held a dark energy in them.I looked over at the members of his pack and they all bore resentment on their faces, they looked like they would rip me apart if I made the wrong choice. But which choice is wrong?“Well, you are an amazing and great leader, so how can I, who is barely experienced, dare to fight with you?” I asked, faking a quivering tone as I spoke.“I'm glad that you know your place,” He said and spat on the ground. “As for taking Luca's place, you will have to prove that without your little tricks, you can survive what that position entails.”This was a fair deal, so I nodded. “Okay, what shall I do?”“Every morning for the next seven days, you will be tasked with bringing us fresh meat for breakfast. It better be big and fleshy.” Shadowvale instructed and walked back into his tent.

CHAPTER 77
Marcus's POV “Master Marcus, I did not mean to anger you. I went into her room but was not allowed because she had a flu,” Winston was clinging to the cell room iron bars and pleading for himself but I was already too agitated to hearken unto his pleas. “Please Master Marcus,” He pleaded again. I frowned and raised my hands and the guard behind me hurried to open the room for him. “Find out who started the rumor that she had caught the flu and bring the person to me, or you will go back into where you're just coming out from,” I said coldly and left. As I walked out, I could see his hurt expression and I also saw his lips move slowly. I sighed and walked away. I went back to my wing got into my chambers and laid on my bed. It had been a long and painful day. A day I will forever not forget. The day I was the most silly. Loving Lily has taught me the good and the bad. More of the bad though than the good. I lay down on the bed and closed my eyes to sleep. Closing my ey

Leila's POVWalking through the grand corridors of the grand mansion, I arrived at Marcus's wing and everywhere was unusually quiet.I wondered what went on but did not have answers at the moment, but one thing was certain, that something was amiss.Downstairs, near the bustling kitchen, a commotion caught my attention. With my curiosity piqued.I made my way closer, my footsteps echoing against the polished marble floors. And there, amidst a small crowd, I saw a chef, clad in his pristine white uniform, being flogged.I frowned. I sought out one of the nearby maids, her eyes wide with fear, her hands trembling as she wrung the edges of her apron."What's happening here?" I asked, my voice barely above a whisper, as if afraid to disturb the grim tableau unfolding before me.The maid glanced at me, her expression a mix of apprehension and resignation. "It's Master Marcus," she whispered back, her voice barely audible over the din. "He ordered the chef to be flogged."I felt a cold shiv

CHAPTER 79
Leila’s POVI walked out of Marcus's room feeling excited about what was about to come. If he was back to being cold towards his servants, then that could only mean that I was close to achieving my goal. All I had to do now was put on a nice act and win everyone's heart. I smiled sinisterly at my thoughts.I arrived at the balcony overlooking the banquet hall and looked in the opposite direction. The other side of the hallway led down to that little witch's room.I walked in that direction without giving much thought to it. I arrived at her door and there were guards stationed there. So much trouble for just the flu.I immediately put on my act and approached the guards.“Miss Leila,” They greeted with a curt bow.“Hmmm,” I replied to their greeting. My blue eyes were moistened well enough but no tears fell. “How is she?”“She is sick.” One of the guards replied.“Can I see her?” I asked, wearing a pitiful look.“I'm sorry, but there have been strict restrictions against her visitors

CHAPTER 80
Marcus’s POVWho did Leila think she was anyway? After showing up unannounced at my chambers, she had the effrontery to ask me why I punished my servants.I sat at my desk and took a cup of water from the table. I wondered what her act was for.No matter what she did, I would never never marry her.“Who's there?” I called out to the guards at the door. The door creaked open and the two guards standing there stepped in.“Master Marcus,” They both greeted.“Make sure no one except for Winston passes through that door,” I instructed firmly.“Understood, Master Marcus.” They responded and made to leave but I called them back.“If anyone except Winston passes through that door, it's your head that will be my next meal. My voice was laced with much contempt and hatred as I spoke and the only person on my mind at that moment was Leila and of course, her Father, Lord Darkwood. Those two were worse than thorns in the flesh. The guards bowed and left.Once I was certain the guards were outside
