Chapter nine

Katherine’s POV

I closed my laptop with a sigh and rub my tired eyes with my fists.

I look out the window only to see the sun setting. Damn, I didn't realize I'd been working that much for so long.

I started to pack my bag, shutting my laptop down and slipping it into my bag. I was halfway done when the door to my office burst open and Sam's familiar figure filled the doorway.

I looked up at her curiously as she carefully inched her way inside, closing the door behind her. She was twiddling her thumbs while she stared at me nervously.

After our last time, she'd been avoiding me and I was also careful with my words around her.

All I wanted to do was to help her, push her in the right direction so she could start healing but she was too scared to make an attempt which left us at an impasse.

"Hey." I broke the silence that had stretched out between us and I stood up from behind my desk.

"Hi." She croaked out before clearing her throat. "I was just about to" Her gaze darted around
