Lianna Evans is a music teacher who lives in a small apartment in the poor part of town. She is everything but your ordinary rich girl. Even though she grew up rich, she has dedicated her life to less privileged children. From her crazy curly hair to her crazy way of looking at the world, nothing seems normal with her. William Rhodes graduated from Harvard Law at the age of 18, the youngest ever to graduate from Harvard. He is also the youngest partner at a famous law firm. He is quick on his feet and extremely business savvy. He is the son every parent wants and the man every woman could only dream of. Lianna and William are as different as oil and vinegar or chalk and cheese. Lianna does not hide from her true self and faces problems head-on. She is as bright as the full moon reflecting on the ocean. William has been hiding behind a mask for as long as he can remember. He is like the dark side of the moon; unpredictable and unknown to everyone. How will things work out between two people with two different paths in life? Will they be able to merge to form a brighter star, casting a light for each other, or will they collide and leave a far more destructive aftermath, pieces of each other scattered around?

Chapter 1
The boardroom is filled with the sound of frustrated remarks and fists slamming against the large wooden table. William’s eyes roam around the room as his arms rest on the table. He returns his focus to the binder in front of him. “Are you saying we don’t know what we are doing?” One of the directors stands up from his chair, his hand scrunching the paper. “That’s exactly what we’re saying. If you did your job properly- “ “Enough!” William’s voice booms through the room. Everyone immediately falls quiet and turns their heads to William. “Please sit down,” he instructs the director, without lifting his eyes from the binder. The director falls back into his chair and clears his throat. “Sir, you have to understand . . . “ The director trails off when he notices William’s eyes on him. He lowers his head and pretends to read something on the paper. There is a moment of silence as they all wait for William to speak. William closes the binder with a silent thud before he turns his attent

Chapter 2
“Who?” She asks again, letting go of her father’s arms. “William Rhodes, the owner of one of the most successful hotel groups in the whole world. Partner at Intra Vires, one of the most well-known law firms in the world. I have mentioned him a few times.” Lianna shakes her head and laughs softly at her dad’s frustration. “Of course, you wouldn’t know. You never listen.” Her dad sighs. “I do listen, Dad. But I don’t recall you ever mentioning him before. He sounds important,” she jokes and bends down to pick up her dad’s cane. “So, does this William fellow know about your plans?” She throws the cane to her dad and he catches it in the air. She walks to the house but turns around to face her father. She continues backward, her gaze still on her dad. He uses the crane to support him as he follows her. “Yes, I met his father at a conference in New York last week. We talked about many things, including the marriage situation. We both agreed that it would not hurt if you guys could get t

Chapter 3
Lianna hands Maeve a mug filled with coffee and sits down across from Maeve on the chair. Maeve takes a sip before she continues. “I still can’t believe it. You’re getting married? I never thought I’d see the day.” Maeve places the mug next to her. “And you’re getting married to none other than William Rhodes. I’m so jealous,” Maeve says with a giggle. Lianna rubs her eyebrow and lets out a tired sigh. “How do you even know who he is?” Lianna crosses her legs on the chair and leans back. “His name appears a lot in the news and he is constantly in the tabloids. He is so dreamy. And you’re getting married to him,” Maeve says, placing a soft punch against Lianna’s arm. Lianna rolls her eyes while shaking her head. “Sheesh, so he is like a celebrity?" Maeve nods her head with excitement. Lianna laughs at her reaction. "One of these days you'll be reading about me." "Don't even joke about that." Maeve takes another sip from her mug. Lianna stretches out her legs. "At least I will get

Chapter 4
William checks his watch while he sits in the corner of the restaurant. The waiter stops at the table and checks if he wants to order. He declines and explains that he is still waiting. Giggles erupt from a few tables away from him. Two girls are staring at him and wave when he looks at them. He gives them a quick smile and waves back. They giggle again before standing up from their chairs. William rests his hands on the table, keeping his eyes on them. They quickly make their way over to him. “Can we get a picture with you?” they ask innocently, and he smirks. “Of course. Here,” he says, standing up. They put their arms around his waist and the girl lifts her phone to take a picture. He places his arms around their shoulders and gives his signature skewed smile. She snaps the picture and checks to see whether they look good. She nods her head and takes her friend's arm. They thank him as he sits back down and they head back to their table. He watches them sit down and smiles to h

Chapter 5
Lianna rests against her apartment door as she tries to catch her breath. She slides down against the door, her chest burning from all the running. Her head rests against the door. She can hear the footsteps climbing up the stairs to her apartment. “I win. You owe me five bucks,” she breathes out when William stops at the top of the staircase. He looks at her and slightly rolls his eyes. “I never agreed to that. You just took off when I got out of the car and yelled something. I am not giving you any money,” he says while walking closer to the door. Lianna stands up and crosses her arms. He moves her away from the door and unlocks it. “Nah, you’re not going in until you give me my money.” She puts her body between him and the door. He steps back and stares into her eyes. Her eyes are narrow as she holds her arms out to block the entrance. He steps closer and uses one hand to move her away, but she does not budge. He puts his suitcase down with a sigh before taking out his wallet.

Chapter 6
William pulls up to an enormous white house as “My House” by Flo Rida plays. The green grass in the front accentuates the whiteness of the house. It looks like a house from one of those rich movies. Lianna’s jaw drops as she stares at all the fancy cars parked near the house. She wanted to ask William who will be there, but she forgot about it. “Woah, this is insane,” she mutters. William looks over at her and smiles at her reaction. He searches for a parking spot and finds one next to the Rolls Royce. As the car stops, he realizes he needs to prepare Lianna for his family. “Lianna, eyes on me,” he says while he tugs her sleeve. She bops her head to the beat of the song. He turns the song down and she groans, letting her head fall against the headrest. “I’m not a child,” she tilts her head to him. “But I’m listening.” She leans closer to him. “My parents are going to be here. You know them. Then, I have a younger brother, Isaac.” “You have a younger brother?” William nods. “Were

Chapter 7
Lianna’s head snaps to Isaac. Wait, what? That would mean William used to be married. How did she miss such an important detail about him? To be honest, she did not even know he had a younger brother. “His ex-wife?” she whispers with a confused expression. Isaac nods before heading back to Bianca. Lianna sighs while she looks at William. He is staring at Evelyn with a distant look in his eyes. Lianna returns her gaze to Evelyn. Evelyn’s green eyes pierce through Lianna as she walks to them. Lianna subtly studies Evelyn. Her long blonde locks bounce slightly as she walks with a constant rhythm. Lianna notices her red lips. It is not the type of red the cheap characters in movies would wear, but a refined red you would see elegant models wear when doing a wine advertisement. Evelyn stops in front of William and Lianna, her eyes on William. “Will, it has been ages. How are you?” she asks with a magnetic voice. William puts his hands in his pockets to prevent Evelyn from seeing his s

Lianna shoots up, blinking her eyes at the darkness. She pulls her fingers through her hair as she tries to remember where she is. A sob travels from the other side of the bed, followed by a violent shake of the bed. Her eyes try to adjust to the darkness, and she blinks a few times. William. She shifts closer to him on the bed. “No, please. No,” he whispers with a broken voice. Lianna freezes. “William?” she asks, crawling closer to him on her knees. She reaches her hand out to touch his face. He is soaked in sweat, and he is flaring up. It feels like he has a fever. William yanks his head away from her hand as he sobs again. He shivers from the cold air touching his chest. He is having a nightmare. Lianna gets out of bed and searches for her phone on the nightstand. William mumbles something incoherently and throws his head from one side to the other on the pillow. Lianna switches her phone’s flashlight on and inspects William. He has thrown the covers off him in an attempt to fr

Chapter 9
“Is anybody out there” “Can you lead me to the light” “Is anybody out there” “Tell me it’ll all be alright” William slowly opens his eyes. Is that music? He cannot believe someone would play music this early. He stares up at the roof while he processes the nightmare. He was doing good with the nightmares until last night. The early morning sun shines through the window onto the bed. He stretches his arms above his head and yawns. “I’ve been here the whole time” “Singing you a song” “I will carry you” He shoots up, and his eyes dart around the room. A beautiful voice echoes in his ears. He turns his head to the sofa where he sees a movement. His hands lift to his ears, feeling the earphones. He realizes that the music comes from the earphones. Why does he have Lianna’s earphones? He glances at Lianna’s side of the bed. She must have moved to the sofa after he fell asleep on the bed. He throws his legs off the bed and unlocks his phone. It is already 07:46. He should get dres

Chapter 10
William walks in front of the rest of the group of men towards the front door. He enters the house and walks down the hall toward the living room. He hears voices from the living room. He slowly makes his way into the room, and his mother notices him. She gestures for him to come closer. His eyes search for Lianna as he strolls to his mother. Lianna is not here. Perhaps she is in their room. He gives his mother a peck on her cheek before he sits on the armrest next to her. “How was your day?” he asks his mother, his eyes darting around the room. Evelyn is also missing in action. “It was wonderful. Exactly what we all needed.” William nods and watches as the other men enter the living room, greeting everyone. “Where is Lianna?” he asks as he leans closer to his mother. She shrugs and turns her head to his father. He should have known. He stands up, but his mother gets a hold of his arm. “Where are you going? Tell me about your day.” His mother pulls him back to the armrest and
