The Betrayal

Someone put a cover on my nose...

I struggled and looked back to see the face of the culprit with all my strength.

It was…

It was my nanny.

I was trying my best to escape from the clutches of my evil nanny but as time passed by, I’m getting very sleepy.

From my peripheral vision, I saw one of the guys earlier pointing a gun at Julian.

“No…no… Not Julian, please… Not him," I pleaded as the tears pooled from the corner of my irises, “P-please don’t kill him, he’s already old. Please spare him,” I added while trying to struggle so hard from my nanny whom I once trusted so much.

My visions are getting blurry from crying as the drug that was put on the handkerchief was taking effect on me.

Before I passed out, my eyes widened as I saw a black-haired guy appeared out of nowhere and whispered something to the bad guy pointing a gun at Julian that made him pull the trigger.

I screamed internally.

I woke up with a pang of pain in my head. I was still dazed. My vision was getting hazy. I tried to squint my eyes and roamed them on my surroundings, but everything was a blur.

There was no light. I can smell the reek of alcohol and kerosene. As I adjusted my blurry vision, I realized I was in a huge abandoned room and tied up on a wooden old chair.

I wonder who were these nasty people behind this plan. Even my nanny was an unexpected traitor who drugged me to sleep...

I don’t have anyone to trust anymore.

And Julian…

Oh poor Julian, he was the only person who remained faithful to my family yet he was killed.

No matter how hard I tried to act and look tough, I was still a weak child, and having a fragile body is a disadvantage.

I exhaled deeply as I tried to calm myself. I should think of a way to escape here as soon as possible. Extending my feet and hands, I noticed that they were tied with duct tape and if only I could find something sharp so I can free myself. I scanned the whole room but I could not find any.

“My pen,” I murmured to myself as I suddenly remembered that I brought it earlier with me. If I remembered it correctly, I slid it on one of my side pockets.

I twisted my body sideways for my hand to be able to reach my pocket beside my hips. And with full strength, I held my breath as I stretched my hand as far as I could to get the pen.

Not minding the pain, I started to work with my hands.

Please work...Please work...

I kept chanting on my head.

Hoping that I will be able to escape from here before the bad guys found out, and catches me.

'Yes!!!' I exclaimed inside my head.

After countless trials and errors, I was able to free my fragile small hands from that annoying duct tape.

I roamed my eyes first to observe my surroundings, as I heightened my senses to be ready anytime those bad guys appeared.

Holding to the only weapon that I have in between my hands as if my life depends on it.

My very own fountain pen...

Don't underestimate pens, they can be deadly and dangerous for a weapon too especially if it was used in a crucial moment where your opponent did not expect you to use it.

It is a little weird or maybe those bad guys who kidnapped me were just dumb people but I don't have time to think about that.

I need to get out of here...

With the remaining strength that I have, I freed my legs using my pen and did a little countdown on my mind as a signal to my escape.

Three...

Two...

One...

In one swift move, I sprinted towards the door—

“Not so fast, little one.”

My eyes widened with fear as I faced a bearded guy, my heart pounded so fast that I could barely breathe.

So they were here all along?

"How did you escape, you cunning little kid? It must have been that stupid Pedro who did not tie you well, tsk!" he grabbed the hem of my shirt while walking.

We passed by some of them sleeping, with alcohol bottles as I was being dragged by this bearded man.

He threw me inside a room and I hissed in pain as I landed on the floor.

“Don’t worry too much, you will be able to meet your parents soon.”

He laughed sardonically like the crazy evil character in one of the stories I had read.

“Don't be dumb, mister. They are dead already so I can’t meet them even if I want to, “ I sarcastically replied, trying to act tough.

I annoyed him too much that made him slap me.

“Madam Hilda was right. You are a little devil and you deserve to die.

“And I am not dumb! What I meant is we will gonna end your life soon so embrace yourself you will gonna meet your parents in hell!” He exclaimed.

“That is what I’m talking about. I won’t die so I won’t meet them yet and I will not go to hell. They say bad guys like you will go to hell if you die as an atonement for your sins. And the mastermind behind all this is Aunt Hilda huh? Is she too eager to get my dad’s wealth?” I replied.

“Yes and we will dispose of you after the court approves to give her the access to your father’s treasures as your ransom,” he said with fiery eyes.

He spits on the ground beside me and glared at me.

"You will meet your end soon, kid," he laughed drastically without humor.
