The Rescue

It's a good thing, he did not notice that I was secretly recording our conversation.

I secretly stopped the recording from my side pocket located near my waist after his confession.

I was about to stand up when he suddenly knocked me off and I passed out again.

...

I woke up with blurry eyes as something cold is poking my cheeks. My eyes widened at the sight of a pair of crimson orbs staring right through me.

“Should I set fire and annihilate them?” he whispered.

His icy stares met the blue orbs of mine.

This guy appeared out of nowhere in front of me.

I was imprisoned in this secluded room for several days after I was kidnapped by a group of men asking for ransom in exchange for my safety. Of course with my aunt, being the mastermind and staged this act. The ransom is useless, I will still be killed anyway.

“Child, I am waiting,” he moved closer and tucked my hair behind my ear.

He got this jet black hair and crimson eyes with a grim smile so lifeless that could make any living creature tremble in fear.

“H-huh?” Stunned and scared as I am, I was not able to respond immediately.

He gave me a stoic expression as if waiting for me to give a different reply.

“Should I?” he repeated.

I nodded slowly and he carried me in a bridal style as I clung onto him tightly.

His pale neck smelled intoxicatingly good.

In a blink of an eye, we were outside. He snapped his finger and I was stunned as the whole building blew up with fire.

I gathered my courage to speak and ask him.

“Who are you? Why did you help me?”

The young man looked at me, his cold eyes showed a little expression of amusement.

“How unusual, shouldn’t a child be thanking me instead?” he said nonchalantly.

“You were the one who is being weird, sire. How did you blow up the place in just a snap of your finger?” I asked.

“I am not here for you, child. I came for them. You just happened to be here and it is their time,” he said as he stared at the burning building with the kidnappers inside screaming in pain.

“Grim reaper?” confusion was on my face.

He shook his head, “Non, I am Doom and I bring death to people.”

“What do you mean?” I asked with confusion.

He replied with a cold voice, “It doesn’t matter. You will forget about me anyway.”

“I won’t… You saved me. I owe you my life,” I murmured.

“You will, I will make you,” he softly mumbled as he slowly snapped his finger in front of me.

I suddenly felt the drowsiness slowly enveloping my system. I can feel my eyes getting heavier.

All I can remember is jet black hair and crimson eyes.

Time flies so fast, I could barely remember how I managed to escape from death ten years ago.

The building, where the incident happened was burned to dust. Nobody escaped, even the kidnappers, except for me. Maybe, it was out of luck. I was not that cursed as I thought for I was given a second chance to live.

“My lady, you need to wake up, and prepare for school now,” my butler said.

I live alone in the manor now. All thanks for the fountain pen, the justice was served and my auntie was thrown in a cold cellar.

Well, Patricia, I haven’t heard any news about her but I hope she is doing fine.

The police said that I was found lying unconscious on the ground by the time the rescuers team came as the fire broke out.

No one was there except for me but I kept insisting when I woke up in the hospital that I was with a young man who saved me.

But I can hardly remember his face nor how did he save me.

The doctors claimed that I was too young to handle everything that I’ve been through and it was just part of my psychological trauma from the whole incident.

Maybe they were right. I can even barely sleep at night. Sometimes, I need to take pills just to get through it.

I was lonely, yes. Even though I am studying now at a prestigious school to boost my social skills, it was still hard for me to trust anyone.

Even my nanny betrayed me for money, how much more these strange kids at my age.

“My lady, we have arrived,” he said as he tilted his head in my direction.

“Thank you, Alfred, ”I replied as I beamed a smile on him, and bid him goodbye.

I heaved a sigh before I went outside the car. All eyes were on me but no one dared to approach me.

I am one of the untouchables here due to my high status, and everyone knows that I preferred to be alone.

The class was boring as usual. I practically almost knew everything that should be learned from school but I still need to attend to get my diploma and so that there will be no problems in my validity as the heiress of Emerson’s chains of businesses.

In the middle of waiting for my driver, I felt the urge to stroll the town alone. I scrolled my phone and called Alfred that I will go home alone later.

“I think, I need to get some fresh air,” I murmured under my breath as I stood up and took a walk.

Not knowing that a supposed to be simple stroll would make my fate turn 360 degrees beyond normal.
