Chapter 6: That desirable apple

Kai's POV

I look at her but for some reason I’m not offended. I look at her expression and I’m enjoying the different emotions she’s showing with every snap of a second. She laughs and in seconds, her expression becomes serious.

"Really? Why not? I'm a businessman at heart and mind," she says, using that scary and monotone voice. Emma smirked, and from the glance she gave me, I knew what she meant by that. Damn it!

Emma grabs something in her purse and it’s her checkbook. She is ready to write whatever amount Raine will say.

“Two billion dollars plus! You, Mrs. Harper, will be my maid for a year. If you can give me that, then Kai Montefalcon will be yours again,” she says in such a blunt and cold tone.

I was about to react when I saw that lying gesture she made behind her back. Emma’s expression is priceless. Her eyes widened, her lips were agape, and anger was in her pupils.

I almost burst out in laughter. "What did you just say? Are you playing around, huh?!” Mr. Harper roared.

That’s when Raine laughs devilishly and shrugs her shoulders. She knows how to play the dame. This apple... she’s more than poisonous.

She’s too alluring and deadly. She pointed her finger at Emma’s face and that woman finally snapped her senses back. Raine walks closer to her and grabs her wrist.

“When you’re ready to be my maid and give me two million dollars, H.E.’s biggest star will be yours again…” she mumbles wickedly. Emma was pushed on the other side.

Raine raised her left hand and signed me to hold it. I was drawn by her beautiful smile and I held her hand. She drags me away and we all leave those three on the seashore.

At the parking lot, Raine faces Macey and George. “You two will use that car. I will be driving his. I think this man and I need to talk about something,” Raine asserted firmly.

George looks at me. I nod and they get inside the car with a driver waiting inside. They leave first and Raine faces me and leans on my car door. Her brows are both moving upward and downward, as if she will try to eat the hell out of me.

“What kind of face is that? You’re being too nagging,” I remark coldly.

I will test her in every way possible. She rolled her eyes and scoff. I was about to complain when she grabbed my clothes and pulled me closer.

She places her hand in my face and moves closer. I thought she would kiss me but she stopped an inch away. I can smell her breath and the warmth in it.

She stops afterwards and wipes her lips to smudge a little of her lipstick. I was about to complain when this chill brought back a terrifying shit. Raine smirk.

My wife pulled me closer and embraced me. “I think Mrs. Harper wants to discuss other things, huh?” she commented.

“How dare you!” Emma roared in a controlled tone. I want to look back but Raine seems to be keeping me from doing so.

“Me? I don’t get it. Ah, the business? I told my husband that we would get married during his hiatus. We’ve been together for a while and now that we’re married, of course he should be under my entertainment agency. Don’t you think that’s normal?” Raine talks back. I can sense that Emma’s eyes can burn my wife if a flame comes out of them.

“You know what I’m talking about! No one steals what I own, young woman. You didn’t know whose man you were fucking touching!” she screamed again but her voice was controlled.

Raine scoffs, and using my peripheral vision, I see how dark her expression is, as if she’s an Anabelle doll who glares at her next victim. Is this even the right decision for me? I feel like I met a scarier woman than Emma!

“I will take him and you will pay for this. I didn’t get old like this for nothing, bitch. You’ll hate the day that you meet me,” Emma asserted devilishly. Rain laughs mockingly.

“You should be the one to be scared of me, Emma. You really think I don’t know what kind of woman you are? Don’t touch my husband ever again or imagine his sexy naked body, because I will bring hell to your doorsteps once you do. Remember this. You’re nothing but an old hag with a loose vagina. Ah, no. An old fucking whore,” Raine added, insulting her in the scariest way she can say at this moment.

How a prominent and educated woman can throw such an insult. I heard Emma’s heels and I know she’s walking closer. I turned around and glared at Emma. I showed her that no one could ever touch Raine in front of me. I speak.

“I’ve had enough of your threats, Emma. You want to destroy my career and make me kneel for you? Hah! That's never fucking gonna happen,” I asserted and grabbed her neck.

I let her see how mad I'd been. I tried to act like we’re okay and that I’ve ignored her sexual harassment.

I opened the car door and Raine got inside. I walked away and drove the car as soon as I started the engine. I stepped on the gas and vented all my anger as I drove at a great speed.

"Well, if you want to be on the headlight for overspeeding rather than being a married man, then you can keep on driving like a madman,” Raine commented.

That’s when I remember this estranged wife that I just married. I loosen my step on the accelerator and breathe in, then out.

She tapped my hand and pointed to the tree on the roadside. I stopped the car at that spot. She unbuckles her seatbelt and faces me. I just sigh.

“I know I didn’t tell you to stay away from the Harper after that press release that you gave but—come on! Isn’t it that obvious?! You should’ve ignored their fucking call!”

I know why she’s mad and yelling. She finally met the three snakes that controlled me for over ten years of my career. I unbuckled mine and faced her.

I was about to talk back when I noticed the smudge of lipstick. I held her chin and kissed her lightly. I let her go and face the road.

“What was that for?! Is that payback for what I did?! Look, let’s focus on Emma. She’s really into you and those eyes? She can kill just to corner you. Stay away from her!”

I turned around and didn’t expect her to warn me like that. I thought she would realize that Emma was a threat to her.

“Look, not because you’re a man and she can make the story in favor of her because she’s a woman would mean that you can’t be a victim. I’m sorry for the outburst. I’m just worried about our way here. I really thought you’re in trouble,” Raine says. Her tone softens and I see that she means what she says. I reach for my hand but she faces me.

“Do you want to consummate our marriage now?” I ask.
