Chapter 5: The dominant heiress strikes back

Raine's POV

I close the laptop and smirk. Macey arrived after registering our marriage contract. I used my connections and put another date on the paper.

We got married last month and we want to make sure that this situation has a tight lid. I know things will be hard from now on and I’m still walking with thin eyes but I can do this. I will protect Kai while I have the chance.

"This time, I will make sure that you will be happy…"

Time passes until I decide to go home at four in the afternoon and Macey is busy tailing Emma and making sure that she won’t try to reach out to my husband.

I told her that because I knew Emma would act desperately. Her next target will be me. At the lobby, I wasn’t surprised when press people ran towards me. The security team surrounded me.

“Good afternoon, Ms. El Greco. Is it true that you are married to Kai Montefalcon?” one of the reporters asks

I smiled and raised my finger. My index finger pointed to the wedding and engagement rings that we will be using as props in this game.

“Yes, I’m Mrs. Montefalcon. You heard what my husband says and we tried to keep it secret because he’s been an idol and beloved celebrity by everyone. But I am asking everyone to support him throughout the end and never base your love on his private life,” I answered.

“Now that he is under your entertainment company, are you not afraid that his career will change and that the fact that you hide your relationship with him will be a factor in his downfall?” one of the reporters says.

I tried to smile and compose my anger deep inside. This reporter is loyal to that psycho woman. It’s time to strike back at Emma Harper.

“Well, I believe that my husband’s loyal fans will stay with him and love his work as an idol and actor. He’s been devoted to every project that he has."

"I think my company will never be the cause of his downfall because the projects that were put on hold because of his hiatus will continue after two weeks,” I opened up. I look at the other camera and make sure that my acting is flawless.

“I know our relationship will have an effect on his comeback but I will support him along the way. I love how he puts his 100% into everything that he does and I know how hardworking he is. I believe he can show more of his versatility as a celebrity. I know we can do this together.”

She is about to ask again but another reporter asks. She is not on my side but I know their network has never been biased. “Mrs. Montefalcon, what is the best thing that Mr. Kai gave you and why do you fall for him?” she asks.

That was simple and I can answer that with flying colors. “He’s gentle and kind. He helps those in need without telling them or showcasing how compassionate he is. All those foundations that he supported and students that he supported for them to reach their dreams are one of the reasons why I fell for him,” I paused and smiled once again.

“Strangely, I was in trouble and he was there. I meet a normal person but not a celebrity. He's a gentle and loving person but, at the same time, mysteriously challenging. Being with him, I can be true to my feelings and myself.”

“One last question for everyone,” the security team says.

A man asks a question. “Even once, have you ever believed that Mr. Montefalcon is in love with Mrs. Harper and you’re just a scapegoat for that rumor?” he asks.

I knew someone would ask that. I am not surprised at all. I simply laugh and cover my lips with my left hand, showing them my rings.

“NO. My husband and I were also in love. I believe that everyone is just making up stories; besides, it's normal for my husband to treat the people who have helped him all these years."

"He’s an actor and you guys saw how expressive his eyes are, maybe because he’s inspired and very much in love with and loved by me. I am not the scapegoat and what we have is true. I don’t have to prove that further,” I replied, shaking my left hand.

I bow my head a little and look at the security team. They guide me until I get inside my car. I wasn’t surprised when a company driver drove me home today. He leaves the company and I didn’t show him how relieved I was because I finally escaped from the press.

My phone rang, and it was Macey. I answered her. “Come here already. Your husband arrived at a resort and Harper’s was here. I have a bad feeling about it. This resort was owned by Gilbert Harper,” Macey says.

I dropped the call and told the driver where we should go. He drives at full speed. After 15 minutes, we arrived at the resort.

Macey and I get inside and ignore the security. I have a bad feeling about this. I saw my husband and George standing at the beach shore. They’re both surprised to see us.

I walk as fast as I can and grab his wrist. “It looks like the stealer has arrived. I wonder if you’re a dog or maybe this man had chickened out and called his wife,” Gilbert Harper says.

I turned around and glared at him. I saw Emma and her husband behind their child. I noticed the sharp glances she gave to me and I wasn’t surprised at all.

I let go of Kai’s wrist. My brow lifted and I looked at them proudly. For some reason, Gilbert never takes his eyes off me and it was uncomfortable but I tried to ignore his glances. Emma talks.

“Is this how you will repay us for what we did for you? Have you forgotten that we are the reason you reached that fame?!” she screamed. I scoff and roll my eyes.

“Really? As if H.E. didn’t take advantage of the projects and the money that he worked hard for. Don’t fucking start with me. I’m not someone that you guys would mess with,” I utter.

I showed them the power that I have and the confidence that I can finally use because I’ve got the name and the money. Gil steps forward and is about to point his finger at my face when Kai grabs his wrist.

My husband is much taller and more muscular. He only towered over Gil and that expression he made. It stuns me. It’s so fucking fine! His expression is dark and that flare of anger in his eyes makes his eyes blaze.

“I told you. Remember this? I’m untouchable.”

I grab Gil’s collar and push him backwards. I know Kai was surprised at how strong I was. I glared at him. “No one owns Kai Montefalcon more than himself. If you all have questions, and then go to my office, but I assure you, no one will win against me,” I remark thunderously. I pushed him away.

“Tell me, how much do you want?” Emma asks in sarcasm.
