Chapter 60

VIOLET

I wait for Cassius. Time seems to have slowed down. The eerie noises of the frightening, dark forest cause my hair to rise on their ends many times, but I continue waiting for Cassius to come and take me back to the town.

But as more time passes and the forest begins to seem more terrifying, I start to lose the hope that he is returning any time sooner.

Still, I wait for him, my knees pulled to my chest, my arms wrapped around my knees as I scan the surroundings.

To my surprise, my vision has cleared a bit and I can now make out most of the things around me. Perhaps, my eyes adjusted to the darkness after spending too much time here.

I inhale deeply and place my chin over my left knee.

‘ He is not going to come back. ’ The male voice whispers in my head for the uncountable time.

The spirit’s voice has been saying the same thing to me from the time Cassius has left me behind. This voice is the
