VIOLET

I wait for Cassius. Time seems to have slowed down. The eerie noises of the frightening, dark forest cause my hair to rise on their ends many times, but I continue waiting for Cassius to come and take me back to the town.

But as more time passes and the forest begins to seem more terrifying, I start to lose the hope that he is returning any time sooner.

Still, I wait for him, my knees pulled to my chest, my arms wrapped around my knees as I scan the surroundings.

To my surprise, my vision has cleared a bit and I can now make out most of the things around me. Perhaps, my eyes adjusted to the darkness after spending too much time here.

I inhale deeply and place my chin over my left knee.
