Chapter 19

At noon,

Evelyn rushed to the bathroom sink and began to vomit again. She gagged as she threw up everything she had for breakfast, feeling utterly uneasy.

After washing her face, she stumbled back to her bedroom. As she sat down on the edge of her bed, she took out her phone and opened the calendar.

Her eyes widened with concern as she muttered to herself, "My period is late."

She quickly stood up, panicked, and hurriedly opened her drawer to check for her intact packet of birth control pills. Upon realizing that she hadn't been taking them regularly, she mumbled, "Oh shit, this can't be happening."

Evelyn frantically grabbed her purse and rushed out of her house. Outside, she flagged down a taxi and hopped inside, gasping, "Please drive me to the nearest hospital."

As the taxi sped towards the hospital, Evelyn was still in a state of shock. She spoke to herself in a low voice, "How could I be so careless?"
