A year later,
Evelyn took a deep breath and walked into the living room where Alaric was sitting, his eyes glued to his laptop. She could feel her temperature rising, as she had a fever, but she didn't want to go to the hospital alone. She cleared her throat softly, trying to get his attention. He barely glanced up before dismissing her with a wave of his hand.
"What do you want?" Alaric asked coldly, his eyes still fixed on the screen.
Evelyn bit her lip, "I feel feverish."
"And?" Alaric asked, emotionlessly
"I was hoping you could accompany me to the hospital." She answered
Alaric heaved a sigh without lifting his eyes from the screen, "I have a meeting to attend right now. Go with Bryan if you must."
Evelyn bit her lower lip, the tears pricking at the corner of her eyes. This was not the response she was hoping for. She wanted her husband's support and care during her fragile state. However, she knew that he despised her.
"Alaric, I want you to accompany me, not your secretary," Evelyn pleaded, her voice trembling.
Alaric finally looked up from the laptop, his cold ocean blue eyes harsh as he stared at her. "You should have thought of that before accepting this marriage. I am not supposed to be your babysitter."
Evelyn took a step back, her heart sinking. She knew he didn't love her, but she never knew he could be so cruel. She tried to fight back her tears and bravely looked at him.
Frustrated and heartbroken, she finally spoke up, "Alaric, why do you hate me so much? What have I done to deserve this treatment?"
Alaric looked at her coldly, "You know why. I never loved you, and I never will. This marriage was forced upon me, and I will never forgive you for taking away my freedom."
"Please, Alaric. I know you don't care for me, but I'm still your wife. Please, show this small decency and come with me to the hospital." Her voice sounded as if she could cry in any second
Alaric's expression softened for a second, but then he quickly regained his icy demeanor. "Fine, get ready but make it quick. I have important work to attend to."
Evelyn's eyes lit up with hope, but she didn't show it. She nodded and turned away, wiping away her tears before facing him again. "Thank you. I just... I appreciate it."
Alaric stood up from his desk and grabbed his coat, his body language conveying his indifference towards the whole situation. "I will be in the parking lot. You got 5 minutes to change. Don't waste any more of my time."
Evelyn nodded, holding back her tears and trying to control her emotions. She knew that this was probably the closest she would ever get to his affection. She silently prayed that someday, somehow, he would look at her with love and kindness instead of coldness and hatred.
After a few minutes,
Evelyn felt her heart race with anticipation as she walked towards the parking lot. She couldn't remember the last time Alaric had agreed to accompany her somewhere, and she was excited to spend the time with him.
As she approached the car, she saw Bryan Scott standing by Alaric's car, looking sharp in his suit. Her heart sank in disappointment as Bryan turned to look at her with a smile.
"Good morning, Mrs. Pritzker," Bryan said politely. "I'm afraid Mr. Pritzker had some unexpected work come up, so he won't be able to make it."
Evelyn's face fell with disappointment, but she tried not to let it show. "Oh, I see," she said, forcing a smile. "That's alright. Thank you for coming to pick me up, Bryan."
What did she expect anyway? She knew Alaric well.
"Please don't mention it." Bryan smiled, but the next moment his eyebrows furrowed in concen, "Your face is red, just how high is your fever?"
"It's nothing serious." Evelyn forced a smile
Realizing that Evelyn did not want to hold a conversation, Bryan nodded and opened the door for her, bowing slightly. "Please, let me help you in."
Evelyn climbed into the car and Bryan moved around to the driver's seat. As he started the engine, Evelyn found herself lost in thought, gazing out the window without really seeing anything.
Bryan didn't say anything, but he could tell something was weighing on Evelyn's mind. He felt a pang of sympathy for her – he knew how difficult it must be to be married to someone like Alaric. He had known Alaric for over seven years, and he had a pretty clear idea on Alaric and Evelyn's relationship.
As they drove to the hospital, Bryan kept his eyes on the road and his thoughts to himself. He didn't want to say anything that might make the situation worse.
Finally, they arrived at the hospital and Bryan pulled into a parking spot. As he got out of the car and opened the door for Evelyn, he stole a glance at her and saw the sadness in her eyes.
"Are you alright, Mrs. Pritzker?" he asked softly, noticing her flushed face
"I'm okay." Evelyn nodded her head. "I'm sorry, Bryan. I know this is awkward for you. You shouldn't have to be here with me." She knew that apart from her and Alaric, only Bryan was aware of the broken relationship.
Bryan smiled gently. "It's my pleasure to escort you, Mrs. Pritzker. Please, let me help you inside."
Evelyn nodded, feeling grateful for Bryan's kindness. She knew that Alaric hated her but all she expected was Alaric to let her know that he wouldn't be accompanying her. At least, she wouldn't have any silly hopes.
In Azure Villa,In Evelyn's bedroom,RIIIINNNGGGG!!!Putting her wedding photo aside, Evelyn wiped away her tears and answered the phone to the familiar voice of her best friend, Arvin. She tried her best to sound cheerful despite her hoarse voice. "Hey Arvin!" "Ev! How are you doing, my dear princess?" Arvin asked.Evelyn's heart swelled with gratitude for her best friend. "I'm okay, just a little unwell.""What's wrong?" Arvin questioned, his tone serious."I just caught a fever," Evelyn replied."A fever?! That's terrible. I'm sending my personal doctor over right now," Arvin declared."No, it's fine, Arvin. You don't have to," Evelyn protested. She sighed, unwilling to trouble Arvin but appreciated his care and concern.Arvin's next question caught Evelyn off guard. "Where is your husband?"Evelyn's voice trembled, "He's at work. He has an important meeting.""What could be more important than his sick wife?" Arvin snapped.Evelyn groaned inwardly. She didn't want to talk about
Morning, Azure Villa,Evelyn slowly opened her eyes, feeling a sense of warmth. She sat up on the couch and looked around the living room. The room was still dim, but she could see the sun peeking through the curtains. She rubbed her eyes and looked down, noticing a soft blanket covering her. She was surprised by this and wondered who could have done it.Evelyn lazily picked her phone from the table and checked the time. It was already 10 am. Her body felt much better after a long nap. She thought about her husband, but she knew that he would never do something like that for her. Alaric was cold-hearted and distant since their marriage began.Evelyn shook off the idea that Alaric could have covered her with the blanket and thought that one of the servants must have done it. She sat on the couch, wrapping the blanket around herself.Meanwhile,Alaric rubbed his eyes, trying to shake off the sleep as he stepped out of his bedroom. He turned around and walked towards the living room, hea
"I won't sign the papers, Alaric! I won't let you go to Dianna," Evelyn exclaimed, standing up from her seat and looking straight into Alaric's eyes.Alaric remained stoic, almost robotic in his response. "You don't have to worry, Evelyn. I will make sure to offer you a good alimony. Just name what you want.""I won't hand my husband over to another woman!" Evelyn shouted, "I don't care about any damn alimony!"Alaric was surprised to see the gentle Evelyn getting aggressive like this. However, he did not lose his composure. He leaned back in his seat, crossing his arms. "Why are you so determined to stay in this loveless marriage? I'm willing to give you a generous alimony. What more do you want?"Evelyn's eyes grew teary. "Because I love you, Alaric Pritzker. I always have and always will. I'll keep trying until you accept me."Alaric was taken aback by her sudden confession but quickly regained his composure. "I've promised Dianna that I'll marry her. What about that?" He stood up
Morning, in Azure Villa,Last night, Evelyn fell asleep with a heavy heart, after the argument with Alaric. As soon as her ringing phone woke her up, she groggily answered it, not sure who could be calling her this early morning. She answered without checking the caller ID. "Hello?" she mumbled, struggling to open her eyes.To her surprise, it was her father's voice on the other end, seething with anger."Evelyn! What the hell is going on between you and Alaric? How could you two make a joke about our families like this?" Her father, Christian Rockefeller's voice was strained with fury."Dad?" Evelyn was startled by her father's sudden outburst. "What are you talking about? I don't understand..." she trailed off, her confusion mounting."If you want to know what I'm talking about, just check the trending news on the internet! You and Alaric have some explaining to do!" Christian's voice boomed, anger evident in every word.Saying this Christian hung up in anger.Evelyn's phone started
Alaric was busy talking to Kevin, when the phone on his desk rang. Alaric picked it up."Sir, Ms. East is here," the receptionist said, her voice tinged with urgency. "She's causing a scene, demanding to see you."Alaric let out a sigh, his shoulders slumping slightly. "Send her in." He told the receptionist.Kevin raised an eyebrow at Alaric. "What's up, man? You look like you're about to jump out of your skin out of irritation."Alaric groaned and rubbed his temples. "Dianna is coming over."Kevin raised an eyebrow, a smirk playing on his lips. "Speak of the devil," he said, amusement clear in his voice. He never liked Dianna in the first place. From Kevin's perspective, Dianna always seemed fake.Alaric silently scowled at Kevin. He shot Kevin a glare, not in the mood for snarky comments. The door finally opened, and Dianna burst into the room, her eyes red from crying. She was dressed in a short, pink fluttery dress. As Dianna walked into the cabin, Kevin irritably muttered under
Noticing Evelyn, Alaric pushed Dianna away and looked at Evelyn, fuming with anger, "What are you doing here?"The next moment, Alaric's gaze then traveled to Bryan, silently asking for answers. Before Alaric could question, Bryan replied, "I tried to stop Mrs. Pritzker, but she didn't listen."Evelyn interrupted and let out a laugh, her eyes fixed at Alaric, "I was told you were busy with a meeting, but now I can see what kept you busy."Alaric's anger grew, but he still didn't explain that earlier Dianna suddenly kissed him, catching him off guard. He cold-heartedly asked Evelyn, "What do you want?"Evelyn calmly controlled her anger and said, "I want to talk to you," then she looked at Dianna and said, "Alone."Bryan understood that it was time for him to leave. He said, "I'm leaving first," and he left, closing the door.Evelyn, Alaric, and Dianna, were the ones standing in the room now. "Ms. East, I think you didn't listen to my words clearly." Evelyn shifted her gaze to Dianna
"If you're here to talk about the news, then I've already had it taken down from the internet," Alaric said, his cold-hearted expression back on his face. "Also, I'll handle our families."Evelyn's expression softened right after Dianna left the room. She looked at Alaric with a mix of sadness and disappointment, and said, "Alaric, how could you do this to me? You know that I did everything in my power to make you love me."Even though a wave of guilt washed over Alaric's mind, his expression was still hard. Seeing that Evelyn returned to her gentle self, he calmed his tone down, and he replied, "We can talk about this later. Right now, I have work to do."Evelyn's anger started to rise again, and she exclaimed, "No, Alaric Pritzker! We are going to talk about this right now." She shouted out, "You know how much humiliation that I will suffer after being abandoned by you! Please tell me, what was my fault?! Why was I not enough?!"Alaric let out an exasperated sigh, "Evelyn, this is m
Alaric grabbed Evelyn's delicate body and fiercely thrust into her. Their unclothed bodies brushed against one another. Their clothing was all over the floor. Their groans and labored breathing could be heard across the entire room. Even though Alaric despised Evelyn, he couldn't help but feel good about her. Evelyn moaned on and on until they reached their climax, at the point when Alaric poured his seed inside of her. They finished, panting and looking into each other's eyes. Alaric felt a strange unnamed emotion towards her, but he quickly brushed it off. After a few minutes,Alaric finished buttoning up his shirt and turned to face Evelyn, who had just finished zipping up her dress. She smiled to herself, thinking that finally, Alaric had looked at her. She had been waiting for this moment for so long. But her smile quickly faded when Alaric spoke. "You need to take an emergency pill," he said, frowning. "I don't want any unwanted pregnancies, so it's better if you take one."Evel
