5.

My gaze on Cara stern replaying over what she has just told me, while we stand still inside the kingdom.

"When?" I ask Cara, my tone high. "When is this happening?" I ask again.

"Calm down Alec, I don't even know if I'm going to do it." Cara tells me.

"It doesn't matter Cara, you talk as though you do not know Odell!" My voice raising slightly. I run a hand through my hair seeing Cara's expression. "I'm sorry, let's get out of here first." I tell her while she nods and within a second we're back at the palace, with the help of teleportation.

As we get to the palace, we're transported straight to my study with Cara leaning by the side of the door.

"What I'm trying to tell you Cara is, Odell has a way of getting anything he wants. Yes, he's my very good friend and infact a brother to me, but I do not support such a decision from him without consulting any of the elder Gods." I explain to her.

"Because he knows they won't support it." Cara speaks up getting up properly.

"But do you?" I ask her staring at her no filter. Cara stays silent for a while with her gaze flees from me once in a while.

"It's not like I support such Alec, but you need to know it's his choice, whatever the Lord of the heavens decide he gets to bear it...."

"Bear it Cara?" I cut her off asking in disbelieve. "Have you forgotten something so soon?" My eyebrows crunched together. "The sins of a God is a sin for the world. If the Lord of the heavens grants him the permission of the dark powers, then he and his people should be ready to face the consequences. And who are the people Cara?" I ask her.

"We are, we are the people! Once the dark power is unleashed what we're facing now would just be a tip of the iceberg." I continue all while Cara remains silent.

Being the God of life and fertility, Cara is granted the ability to speak with the Lord of the heavens directly, and not just in a dream like it is for the rest of us.

Cara is one of the ten Gods in creation who can meet the Lord of creations, and even if she is only able to ask on behalf of Odell, she also knows the Lord of creation would never agree to such, and let's say he does, there would be an aftermath worse than it all, because as he has said,

God or mundane, your rewards would be judged according to your actions, so as your punishments.

"Don't do it Cara, I beg of you." I move closer to her while Cara only stirs in discomfort, because one thing is, one can never predict the Lord of the heavens.

"Alec... "

"Please Cara," I beg again.

"Even if I don't want to Alec, I can't. I have to." She stares at me sadly. "I owe him Alec." Cara tells me  making me pause, before running another hand over my face.

Odell always finds a way to get what he wants.

"What is Odell doing!" I mutter running a hand through my hair.

"Alec... " Cara tries to come closer.

"No.. You don't need to cara,  I clearly understand and I know how it feels to have no choice. You have no fault in this." I tell her while she still stares at me guiltily.

"I have to talk to him... I have to talk to Odell." I tell her.

"Are you sure that's a good idea?" She asks me.

"It's better than not doing anything Cara, because once the almighty agrees, there is nothing I can do." I tell her looking at her one last time before leaving the study.

I walk around the place grounds, knowing exactly where Odell would be at a time like this, as I sight him by the pond of the fingerlings, feeding them.

"You know your scent alone gives you away at the very instant." Odell's voice comes through all while his back is turned against me still feeding the fingerlings.

"Well, you cant blame me, I like to be noticed." I say while I hear Odell chuckle before turning to face me.

"That I can say, and more of leaving an impression kind of God." Odell adds making me smile a little. We both stay silent for a while, as I walk closer to him and he goes back to feeding his pets, as he would call them.

"What's on your mind brother?" Odell asks me seeing our suspicious silence.

"You, you are." I say making him drop the food and giving me his full attention. "I know Cara is in the kingdom." I inform him.

"Oh yes, that's true." Odell laughs a little. "Your partner in crime is back, we dare not rest again." Odell jokes.

"That's not the point Odell." He pauses  still staring at me to go on. "I know what you asked her here for." I tell him straight to his face making him snap his tongue in a kind of way he does.

"Of course, she would tell you." Odell chuckles dissapointed.

"Yes she would Odell, and what are you thinking?..."

"I'm thinking of bringing my father back Alec!" Odell snaps at me.

"But your father is dead and anything that's dead should stay dead brother! We know better than to mess with the dead." I tell him back.

"Easy for you to say because you're not the one whose father was assassinated with no way of knowing who or what killed him." He confronts me.

"That is not true Odell, and you know that. There are ways that we could investigate who killed king Orrin without going about it this way," I say.

"Okay let's say there even is, but who says we're going to get down to the root of it, and with what time? I'm running out of time here Alec." Odell says to my face.

"Time? Time Odell? Have you forgotten patience is the key, patience is stillness, patience is... " I stop talking as my gaze on Odell hardens realizing this isn't about patience.

"No Odell, don't tell me...dont you tell me you want to risk the life of the people from the sake of a crown?" I ask while he remains silent proving my guess.

"Oh God of creation!" I whisper running a hand through my hair.

It's all about the power to him.

"Odell tell me it's not true!" I ask him again.

"It's true Alec, it is true and I bet if you were in my shoes you would have done the same... "

"No!  I wouldn't! I would never jeopardize the life of anyone just because I want the crown to be passed on to me directly without having to go through the competition!" I cut him off.

"Easy for you to say Alec, because you always act like you're the only one who has their best interest at heart and not us." Odell talks.

"No I never said that, and don't try to turn this on me. This is black power Odell, have you forgotten?"

"No I have not forgotten a tiny bit of it, and if I didn't care about the people I wouldn't go to the Lord of the heavens to ask permission." He says.

"And what certainty do you have that the Lord is going to grant you such that could cause havoc to his creation." I ask him.

"Because I would give the one thing that the almighty can not refuse a request from." Odell tells me and at that instant my eyes go wide.
