Chapter hundred-five

Freya's POV

It took almost seven hours before I got close to Caleb's pack. Four hours by bus and three by running on land. Finally, I was close enough to hear it.

The sound of violence was even louder than I expected and for a moment, I second-guessed all my decisions that had brought me here to this point.

I hesitated, pressing my back to the big, rocky boulder that was behind me. I ducked my head and closed my eyes in fear when I heard an explosion rock the entire city. That was big!

I didn't know how to feel, and running back the way I came from crossed my mind.

I squashed the thought almost immediately. I was here already, no way I was going to run.

Every pit stop made by the bus made me contemplate jumping down but I kept on pushing until I was here…

Another explosion follows closely behind the first one, but this time even the boulder behind me shakes from the force.
