Chapter hundred-nine

Katherine's POV

As both Caleb and I fell to the ground, funny enough I didn't feel anything different...maybe a wound or puncture or something.

Nothing. I felt fine.

Caleb immediately rolled off me, inspecting my body for damage but I waved him off with an 'I'm Fine' only for me to look further and see Tyrone's dead, sightless eyes staring up at me.

I let out a sound that stemmed from my feelings of shock and horror. He was lying just at my feet with a bullet hole in his head.

His face was even frozen in a surprised expression like he couldn't believe it. Pressing a hand to my mouth to retain the whimper, tears sprang up to my eyes.

It occurred to me then that Tyrone had pushed us away to take the bullet for us.

In other words, he died for us.

If only I had listened to him, then he wouldn't be dead!

The sound of engines snapped me out of my reverie, pushing me into action when I realized that his murderers were about to flee.
