Chapter 26

“Savannah sweetheart this is Toni our housekeeper, Toni this is my beautiful daughter Savannah.”

“It’s a pleasure to meet you Savannah I have heard nothing but amazing things about you.”

“Nice to meet you too Toni, you must show me how to make this one day it smells amazing.” Toni smiles at me bowing her head slightly and she takes her leave.

After dinner I insisted on clearing the table and loading the dishwasher. Yes, even though we have Toni who can do that for us, I just don’t feel comfortable that Toni is doing everything. I like to feel useful around the house and this is my way of being useful. Collecting mine and Dad’s now empty plates after such a burst of flavor in those quesadillas, I take them to the sink and give them a quick rinse down before I put them in the dishwasher and I do the same routine, with the cutlery and glassware.

It didn’t take me long to clean up after dinner. Dishwasher filled and running, placemats put away in a drawer and table wiped down it o
