I had to stop the car at the side of the road and turn around properly to talk to her.

“What did you say?” I wanted to make sure I had heard her correctly.

“Roman." She looked at me with her wide beautiful eyes and I wondered if I should be angry at her.

“You can't talk to him anymore. He's not a good person."

I knew that was low and I knew I shouldn't be saying bad things about him but I had no other choice. Since I couldn't tell her that they were father and daughter, I had to tell her anything I knew would scare her off.

Or so I thought.

“He’s a good person, mummy. He always brings me chocolates and flowers and asks me how my day is going.”

Always?! I'm sorry, always?!

“Since when have you been seeing him? I mean, since when has he been coming around?"

She placed her hand on her chin and looked outside the window.

“Um, since I came back home.”
