I held her in my hands as I whispered sweet nothings to her ear, trying to soothe her, while hoping that whatever they had given to her doesn’t end up harming her. Maya was now my ultimate focus.

My parents should be dead by now. Though, I was devastated beyond words, but with her, I had hope to live. I was happy to be able to live my life on my terms. I was happy to be able to see Maya again. And, I hoped I wouldn’t lose her too.

I stepped out of the room, and heard the awful shrill of the siren. At that same time, my ear buzzed. The head council informed us all to meet at the warehouse at the outskirts of town. I had to get there at once.

At the verandah, I noted that the police were already trooping into the party in numbers. I wouldn’t let them catch me. Most of the boys had fled the sight with their intense strength making it difficult for them to be caught so easily.
