Chapter Sixty - Eight

MAX’S POV

“Wait, this is the guy who attacked you.” Amelia said, pointing at the older man. “No, it’s not him; this is an older man. It must be his little boy then.” She said, pointing at Ezekiel Hunter.

“No wonder I’d been trying to remember where I’d seen him. He seemed so familiar.”

Amelia nodded. “So your family knows him?”

I sighed. I had to explain the tale nonetheless. “Yes, there was a pact between the hunters and the wolves a long time back. Yet, something led to another, and the pact was broken when something tragic happened.”

“What happened?”

“The head of the leading hunter clan was killed by an alpha.”

“What?”

“That head was Caelan Hunter, Ezekiel’s Dad, and that Alpha was my Dad.”

“Holy shit.” Amelia swore softly.

“That’s the thing. I just can’t believe that my Dad would act irrationally without cause. I know that he won’t kill an innocent man just for the sake of killing. There has to be something. I knew my Dad.”
