CHAPTER FIVE

I screamed so loud that I knew everyone within one kilometer must have heard me but no one came to help me as if none listened to my scream. Where was I?

“SHUT UP,” he ordered but didn’t stop. I was scared as hell. The man in front of me was not human. I was sure of it. He released my hand only to place it on my mouth, muffling my screams. I squirmed in his hold, wanting nothing but to get away from him as far as I could. I still felt the tingles and his eyes again changed their color. It again went black instead of amber and I was about to pee myself.

“Shut up or I’ll kill you,” he threatened. I quietened my scream and stared at him with my eyes wide as a saucer. My chest heaved and the vein thumped in my throat. My breath was hitched and my heart was hastily beating inside my chest. When he noticed that I was silent, he slowly, very slowly removed his hand from my mouth. I stayed rooted to my spot and didn’t move even an inch. He let go of my arm similarly and took a step back from me. I swallowed a lump in my throat and when he was a few steps back from me, I decided to take my chance. I instantly tried to make a run for it. I knew it was a wrong move as an arm came around my waist from behind me and he pulled me hard against his chest.

His other hand came to my face and he harshly grabbed my cheek. His hot breath fanned over my neck from behind. I knew he was mad. His heat radiated around my body and I was grateful that I could not see his face. I gulped. My heart pounding. I thought it was going to come out any second. I felt him lean to my ear until his nose brushed the bare skin of my ear.

“Try moving again and I swear you’ll regret it,” he gritted out. His voice was low but intimidating at the same time. I stayed silent. He was already furious and I didn’t want to get hurt. My arm was bleeding from his nails. I was not sure if his hands that were holding me against him were hands or claws but I didn’t look to confirm my doubts. I stayed still.

“You are going to stay here until I say otherwise,” he whispered in my ear and a chill went down my spine. I gulped.

“Understood?” he questioned. My throat was dry and was aching. I just nodded as I knew my voice wouldn’t leave my throat. He didn’t say anything further but didn’t release me either. We stayed like that. I went stiff when I noticed him placing his head on the crook of my neck. I bit my lip and closed my eyes. A tear slipped from my cheek. I felt terrible and scared. Suddenly he sniffed my scent which made me confused and my stomach twisted into knots. I waited for him to step aside from me for a minute. When he finally did, I was glad and inhaled a huge lump of air. I didn’t turn to look at him but I knew he was staring at me. His gaze was on my head.

“I’ll send someone for that wound,” he spoke again. My eyes fell on my arm which was covered with blood and was paining. I didn’t reply to him. He walked out of the room and closed the door behind him. As soon I was alone, my knees shook beneath me and I slid to the floor. My eyes flooded up with tears and my body trembled in fear. I was stuck in this place. I had so many questions to which I had no answer. Who was this man? How did his hand turn in claws and how did his eyes' color change? What was he? I didn’t know where I was. I was sure that he brought me here after he injected me with something but how do I get away from here? I sniffed and wiped my cheek with the back of my hand. Suddenly I remembered what he said to me. He asked me whom I was working for. He brought me here because he thought I’m working for someone but how do I make him trust me that I’m not working for anyone?

‘How is it that you are my mate’ my mind recalled what he had said. What did he mean by mate? I was beyond confused. I was back from my thoughts when someone again twisted the doorknob. I slid backward in fear when the door opened. I stared at the wide-open door expecting him again but it was not the mysterious guy. It was a girl who looked around to be of my age and I was glad to see a female here.

The girl smiled at me and somehow a wave of relief went through me. She entered the room and approached me. I backed away from her. I could not trust her. Even though she was a girl, she still worked for the same man.

“Don’t worry, I won’t hurt you,” she said as she kneeled a step away from me. Her voice was calming and I believed her. As she was close to me, I realized that she was beautiful. She had a pair of mesmerizing blue eyes and her dirty blonde hair fell over her shoulder. She was slim and tall but her curvy figure added to her beauty. Her smile would have made any man go crazy for her and a small part of me envied her beauty but the envy disappeared as soon as it came. I felt a power radiate from her like I felt from that man but his was more intense than hers. Her eyes fell on my bleeding arm and she shook her head in disappointment.

“He shouldn’t have done that,” she said, mostly to herself.

“Come on, let me treat that,” she voiced and pointed her head to my wound. I decided to let her treat me as I was tired from before. I didn’t say anything and just nodded to her.
