At present, Daniel was going through papers in the file when his phone rang, making him pause his work. He picked up without looking at the caller ID. “Hello.”

“It’s been over two weeks, and you still didn’t think it was necessary to call your mother and tell her if her son was fine or not.” His mother, from another line, demanded an explanation.

“Sorry, ma. I have been busy with work. I have been working on a project.” He explained.

“Danny, life is beyond work as well. For the past six years, you have done nothing but work. Plus, it is the longest you have stayed alone without us.”

“Ma, you make me sound like a kid. You know work is important, and I have been staying with you all because it’s nice to come back home to people who love you. Living alone can be boring.” He stated. But he knew that it was partially a lie. He hated living a single moment alone, as it always made him think about Ella.

“How much we try, we both know that your father and I cannot fill the void of Ella.
