Chapter 4: Find that girl

“Dad, are you ok?”, yelled Carter frantically at Connor as he arrived.  Carter had been in a meeting when his assistant interrupted the meeting telling him what happened.  Carter excused himself and came out.  He had only just missed Grace by mere seconds as she had just hopped into a Cab. “I’m fine Carter”.  Connor and his bodyguard told Carter about the young lady with the ocean blue eyes that saved him from the would-be kidnappers that the Police were now taking away. He also recounted the treatment she had provided him, her kind smile and showed him her jacket that was used to elevate his foot. Carter looked around for the girl with the description his dad gave him but he could not find her.  Carter’s bodyguards approached him. “Check all the cameras around here and find the identity of the girl that saved my dad”.  Connor looked at his son, “Please Carter, you must do whatever you can to find that girl.  She risked her life saving me and then attended to me and I am happy to report that the treatment she gave me has reduced the pain in my foot substantially.  I just want to thank her properly and your Mom will be so grateful that someone had been here to save me. Please son use all your resources and get access to the local cameras to find that girl for me”. Carter was so relieved that someone had been there for his dad.  He needed to ensure his dad never left the house with just one bodyguard from now on. His thoughts then wandered over to the girl that saved his dad.  What sort of strength did she have to be able to beat these thugs and then have the strength to look after his dad. Who was this girl?

Meanwhile, Grace had logged into all the cameras that were pointing to that area and wiped out any trace of herself.  She was happy to have helped Connor but that was it.  He had already thanked her with his kind eyes and there was no need for any more interaction. ‘Straco City is so big, so the chances of bumping into Connor again are very slim’, she thought to herself.

(BACK TO PRESENT TIME)

“Dad’s foot is healing very well.  All the swelling and bruising you saw when he was in hospital for those few days has all cleared up,” Carter answered. “Did you ever find out who the girl was that beat the two guys up and not only saved your dad but also treated him?”, asked Sean.  “Unfortunately, dad was in pain and shock as well as infatuated looking into what he described as ‘mesmerising gorgeous ocean blue eyes’ that he forgot to ask her.  Dad also said that she was not a local as she had a foreign accent that he could not quite pick. I don’t think she wants to be found because when we checked all the cameras pointing to that area, all traces of her had been removed.  Even the private investigator dad hired did not come up with anything. She’s a real mystery and it has been bugging my dad.”  Sean remembered his ambush and how Claire had saved him.  He was grateful that he was able to find his saviour and do whatever he could to repay her for her kindness.  “Hmm, that’s strange that you have not been able to find her, what a good Samaritan. Nonetheless, I’ll come by and see him in next few days and play a game of Chess with him and see how your Mom is doing”, Sean told him.  “Yes, I think it is a great idea, I’ll come by and see how he is too. I know he loves going out and about meeting his friends for lunch, and being less mobile makes it a bit harder for him”, Sebastian added.  Carter thanked his friends for their concern and wanting to keep his dad company.

“Ding”. Sean’s phone indicated that he had received a text.  He looked at his phone and saw whom the text was from:

Claire: Sean. What are you up to?  I’m lonely, can you come over? XXOO

Sean: Go out for a walk or even contact one of your friends and do something with them.

Claire: I’m new in town and don’t have any friends here.  Please Sean, can you please come over, just for a little while

Sean: I can’t come over.  Go shopping or go see a movie.  I need to work and you need to find way to make some friends.

He then put his phone away and huffed.

“Is it Claire again?”, asked Sebastian. Yes, still on my case to spend time with me, but I don’t want to give her false hope. She has started inserting hugs and kisses in most of her texts but I just can’t forget what she did for me”, Sean remarked. “Hmm, if it was me, I’d just pay her off and get her out of your life. I get she saved you and you have the ability to repay what she did for you. You don’t have to be tied to her for life.  I have a feeling she is going to be troublesome for you if a lady comes into your life because no potential girlfriend will accept this entanglement”, Carter told him.  Sean was confident Claire would not pose a problem if he ever started dating.  “I really don’t think she’ll be a problem. I can’t just ditch her, she hurt herself saving me.  Besides, she’s not interested in me, she’s just lonely.  It won’t be a problem if a lady ever piqued my interest”, he retorted. “Hmm, we’ll see when that situation arises but I caution you to be aware”, responded Carter. They then went on discussing work related matters with their investment collaboration before each of them left for their own workplaces.

On the other side of town, Claire was not happy that Sean was putting distance between them.  Sure she didn’t save him, but he didn’t know that. As far as he was concerned, she saved him from some thugs and even attended to his and his driver’s wounds.  Claire couldn’t believe this opportunity to get close to such a handsome and excellent man had fallen into her lap.  It was destiny and she was going to ensure that she benefited from it.  She had since come to know that he was the 2nd richest man in Straco City and his empire was growing rapidly due to his investments.  She was intent on not only spending time with him, but she was going to marry him and nothing was going to stop her.  Claire then came up with an idea to spend time with him.
