Chapter 56

Emily was taken aback as she gaped at Richard as though she had just seen a ghost.

“A wife who wants her husband dead?” Emily asked in a voice that sounded like a whisper.

She was shocked to the bones and wasn’t able to move from where she stood. Her stomach twisted, and her knees felt as though they were going to give her away to the floor.

“Don’t be afraid, baby girl. This is the least of what should surprise you”, Richard said and chuckled calmly.

He was glad that he was staring at her currently. That was his plan, and he was elated that it played out exactly as he wanted.

“Can we talk less about marriage? I need to feel better”, he said and groaned again, making Emily to jolt off her thoughts.

Emily swallowed hard and made to utter a word. However, the words were unable to leave her lips and so, she took in a deep breath and returned her gaze to Richard.

“What can I do to help you, sir?” She finally asked.

Richard smiled inwardly and lifted his head to stare at her worried face.
