Chapter Twenty Nine

At exactly nine a.m., Sinjin arrived to pick up Eds, only to be surprised when he realized they were both wearing matching outfits: flannel shirts, jeans, and the same shoes. They stared at each other in shock before erupting in laughter.

"Oh, it's like you're married already," Sande remarked, clasping her hands together under her chin. "So sweet."

"Is this okay?" Eds asked, gesturing to her outfit.

"It's fine. I like that we're matching," he replied.

"Um... Sinjin?" Troy called.

"Yes?" Sinjin replied, turning to smile at Troy.

"Can I talk to you for a second, please?"

"Of course," Sinjin nodded.

"Let's go upstairs," Troy said.

"Lead the way," Sinjin replied.

Five minutes later, Sinjin returned with Troy and Tristan, all three of them sporting damp eyes as if they had been crying. Eds and Sande exchanged puzzled glances but didn't bother asking what the matter was.
