Chapter fifty

Narrator's POV

The City, Club Go

Joe made his way through the crowd of partiers. He took the corner, then went down the stairs. At the end, he could make out the figure of two dark men.

They pointed a torch directly at his face.

He closed his eyes, raising the card up.

"Lioness. official business ".

"I've not seen you around", the voice barked. "Which sector do you work for? ".

Joe was confused. He had to think fast.

"Retrieval ", he said with a cough. The man looked at him from head to toe, then opened the door that was behind them for him.

He pocketed the black card and passed the door.

His mouth almost fell. The underground was almost as twice as big as Club Go itself.

There were all sorts of people, all in their demon forms.

Demon Essence was brimming all over the place.

The place wasn't bright, there were only a few lights in the ceiling.

The brightness of the places came from the Demon Essences.

' So this was how it was to be free', he thought.
