I’m at the common area sitting on the bench my friends and I frequent, munching on the ham sandwiches Ms. Pat packed for me this morning and sipping on soda while flipping through a textbook with one hand as I have every free time I had in the past two days when my cell chirped, I drag my eyes momentarily from my reading to check the notification, I click on it with one hand opening a text from Hanna. There are two pictures accompanied by question marks.

I swipe at the second one and hit send.

It was a pair of calf-length boots as opposed to Uggs. I wasn’t sure of her outfit but the boots were more her style, she likely already made her choice and was going to wear the boots no matter what I said. I wiped my fingers with a napkin, done with eating, I had about thirty minutes before my next class and I wanted to finish up this chapter that way I’d cover two more tonight before bedtime.
