Chapter 1

"She is threatening to burn it down, sir."

Jason cursed over the phone after one of the guards reported another incident at the third villa he had to buy because of Maya. Maya had already burnt two villas to the ground. He didn't doubt she would do it again.

"Then stop her damn it!" He yelled

"We tried, Mr. King. She is searching for a lighter as we speak." The guard said, knowing what Jason was going to say.

"Fuck! Let her burn it down. I'll replace it soon." Jason barked and ended the call.

"Oh, JJ." His secretary, Celia Clark, massaged his shoulders and kissed his neck. "That numbskull doesn't seem to give you a break, does she?"

"Not Celia." Jason groaned as he got up and went to his best friend, Liam Johnson's office.

Jason and Liam worked together for six years already. Mr. King left King Enterprise to Jason when he retired. Jason decided to hire Liam, and the two of them made the business flourish. Jason became a billionaire at the young age of twenty-six. He got the attention of hundreds of families that wished for him to marry their daughters. Jason had already been married before. When everyone heard about his divorce, they threw their daughters at him.

"You look like you just got off a call with someone from the villa." Liam burst out laughing.

"Is it that obvious?" Jason asked as he sat in one of the chairs across from Liam.

"Shit mate, I was just messing around but do tell me what your wife has done this time."

"She threatened to burn the villa down. It's probably burning down as we speak." Jason sighed and then got up to look out the window.

Jason enjoyed looking out the window. He could see the whole town from his window. Jason's office was just one floor above Liam's. Jason is an incredibly hardheaded man. He got everything and everyone he wanted just by demanding it. The same applied to Liam, but he was more humble than Jason.

"That would be the third villa she burns, wouldn't it?" Liam leaned back in his chair. "But on a serious note Jason, the two of you have been married for what? Four years now? I think it's time you see her. She is still your wife." He continued.

"Don't call her my wife!" Jason snapped. "I don't have time to deal with her. She behaves like a child."

Liam shook his head.

"Jason, she is trying to get your attention. The poor girl is probably bored out of her mind."

Both Jason and Liam stopped talking as soon as the door opened. They looked up at the two interns bringing their coffee and muffins. The ladies placed the muffins on the table and rushed out of the room.

"These interns are the most gorgeous creations I have ever seen," Liam said as he watched them leave the room.

"Oh, shut up, Liam. Aren't you dating Skyler?" The two of them laughed.

"Seriously, mate, leave my interns alone," Jason said firmly.

"Will you be joining us for the meeting with Best-Builds?" Jason asked.

Liam had a history of skipping out on meetings. He found them boring. Jason never had a problem with it. Only one of them had to attend the meetings, but it would be better if they both were there.

"Surprisingly, yes, I will be joining," Liam said; with a smug look.

Whenever the two of them attended a meeting together, it was guaranteed; they would get their way.

"How are the plans for the new shelter going?" Liam continued as he shoved the muffin in his mouth.

"Quite well. We have already ordered all the materials. I'm just waiting on delivery so they can begin."

Liam nodded and finished his coffee.

"I'll see you at the meeting. I need to go speak to Celia about something." Jason got up from his chair and walked to the door.

"Is it just me, or does Celia fancy you?"

"It's just you," Jason responded before he stepped out.

Jason got into the elevator and went up to the ninety-fifth floor. He walked over to the front desk, where Celia sorted through documents.

"Listen, Celia. I need you to call the real estate agent I bought my villas from, and I need you to buy another villa in the same area. In case Maya burns this one down."

"Sir, with all due respect, I think it's a waste of money."

"Well, thank God it's my money and not yours, huh?" Jason said sarcastically. "Tell me, Celia? Do I pay you to give your opinion on things? No, I don't, so stop moaning and do as I say." He continued before he returned to his office to prepare for his meeting."

By the end of the meeting, Jason and Liam walk out of the room with a smirk. Just as expected, things went their way. Everyone else left the room with their heads down. Liam left as soon as the meeting ended.

Jason went to his garage, got in his sports car and left the building. Jason wasn't a big fan of sports cars. He only bought it because he had the money. He didn't care what car he drove.

"Good afternoon Mr. King. Your parents are seated in the private suite." The woman at the door told Jason and led him to the room.

"Thank you so much, darling."

"Hi, Mom and Dad." He greeted them and sat down.

"Afternoon, Jason." His Dad responded.

"We'll get straight to the point." Mr. King cleared his throat. "Jason, listen. Your mother and I have been talking. We think it's time you made your marriage public." Mr. King told Jason.

Jason's grip tightens around his glass of water. He never enjoys talking about Maya. He doesn't even like her. He still resented his parents for making him get married. Maya's family was drowning in hospital bills after her little brother was diagnosed with cancer. Jason still payed for Maya's brother's treatment even though it bothered him.

"Dad, I seriously don't want to discuss this right now. I just came to have a peaceful lunch with my parents."

Jason's parents remain silent for a few minutes.

"So tell me, son, how's King Enterprise?" Mr. King asked to ease up the tension between them.

Jason wasn't in the mood to talk anymore. He knew exactly why his parents wanted to meet with him.

"It's doing well."

The King family enjoys the rest of their lunch without saying a single word. Jason would have left if they uttered a single word while he was trying to eat.

"So Jason, your dad and I have been talking and-"

"Mother, I don't want to talk about it," Jason warned.

"Well, I don't care. You will discuss this with us right now, do you understand?"

Though Jason was an adult, he still feared his mother; he just had to sat and listen. By the end of the conversation, Jason agreed to have both his parents and Maya's parents over for lunch at the villa.

"And lastly. I think it's time you try for another baby Jason." Mrs King mentions.

Jason shot a deadly glare at his mother. His once gorgeous brown eyes turned red. He clenched his jaw, and it seemed the vein in his head was about to pop.

"I know you're still hurting from little Jamie's passing but-"

"Don't you dare talk about my son." He said through his teeth. He got up from his chair and threw cash on the table for lunch before he walked out.
