Chapter 6

Chapter 6

Half an hour had passed before Roam went back to the house looking like a ragged warrior. His shirt was ripped with blood stains, horrifying me. I knew there was something inhumane about him that was scaring the shit out of me, but when I saw the cuts on his cheek and lower lip, something inside me twisted.

He pulled off his shirt, revealing more of his cuts on his chest ang back. Jesus! What the hell happened to him?

I was left frozen on my spot at the living room, unable to blink as he reached for the first aid kit hiding under the center table. The fact that he was keeping it there and not in the kitchen made me assume that he usually gets himself into trouble.

He dropped himself on the couch then looked up. "You okay?" he asked with a wrinkled forehead.

Was he for real? "How am I supposed to be okay when you just changed eye color in front of me and then returned looking you just had an MMA match with a freaking bear?"

Both of his brows raised as If I said something ridiculous. "If only it's just a bear."

My eyes narrowed at him as anger rose in my chest. Seriously, why was I even getting mad? "If only it's just a bear? Are you for real, Roam? Look at you? Well you better wish--"

I paused when I noticed how he pursed his lips together as if he was trying not to grin. Even his expression brightened and the twinkle in his eyes clearly said that he was, in fact, enjoying my nagging.

Who the hell on Earth enjoys getting nagged at?

Definitely not me nor the people I knew. I sighed heavily. There really was something wrong about this man.

"Thanks, Ahuvi but you don't have to worry about me. This would heal faster now that you're here," he said and then opened the first aid kit.

Ahuvi. There was that weird word again. "Ahuvi? What does that mean?"

The corner of his lips curved upward as he put some alcohol in a cotton ball. "You sure you wanna find out this early?"

My lips twisted. "Well it's better to find out now what that means. What if you're already cursing me, mister?" I folded my arms in front of my chest. Yes, chest. I didn't think I had the right size of boobs to emphasize it. "And what are you, really? How did you do the whole eye color switching thingy?"

"Hmm?" he pursed his lips again, suppressing his grin. Damn those sparkles in his eyes!

"What hmm?"

He shook his head, obviously trying not to laugh. God, forgive me if I'd smack his other cheek and add more bruises on that handsome face.

He sighed then patted the couch. "Come here. I'll ease your anger."

My cheeks threatened to burn. "I'm... I'm not angry? Why would I be?"

"Yes, you are and it's normal." Another heavy sigh escaped his lips. "God, you're even worse before," he murmured which made my brows curl.

"What did you say?"

"Nothing. I said come here and help me instead."

I glared at him and turned around with my fists clenching on my sides. I wanted to walk away and go back to the kitchen to finish my food but there's a force that kept pulling me back. My feet were glued on my spot and my chest felt an unfamiliar feeling I couldn't put into words.

All I knew was it's telling me to sit next to Roam and nurse him. There's really something wrong with me. I was supposed to be scared at him because first, he was holding me captive. Second, he's weird. Third, I can sense how dangerous he was, but my stupid heart wanted to take the lead so I ended up facing him again.

Roam leaned on the back rest, making his muscles flex effortlessly. "Come on, Ahuvi so we can eat after this. I know you're hungry."

I swore if my feet would take its steps towards him, I'd cut it myself. I would... damn it!

Roam's eyes seemed to be smiling at me when I walked towards him. I tried to keep enough distance between us because I didn't like how his presence affected me. There's this foreign sensation that was burning me and sending chills down my spine at the same time. But Roam moved closer to me, angled his body towards me, and then rested his freaking ripped arm on the backrest of the couch.

Dear, God, how could you deliver a ball of temptation to me when I'm two weeks short from being legal?! This is not fair!

I took in a silent breath and dodged his stares before my dignity could decide to leave my body fully. Snatching the cotton ball from his hand, I swallowed the pool of saliva in my mouth and looked at his lips.

Definitely a wrong freaking move...

Mentally chanting the only prayer I could remember, I lifted my shaking hand and started nursing his cut. I tried to focus on his wound but his tender-looking lips were trying to exorcist the good girl in me. My head was filled with thoughts about romantic kisses, how it seemed would felt like, and then...

I snapped when he suddenly held my chin and shut my mouth. Jesus, how didn't I notice my lips parting? Embarrassment rose from my chest until my cheeks turned completely red like I was having the highest fever reached in Guiness Book of World Record.

"If you wanna kiss me, just say so, Jemimah," he said, trying not to laugh.

My eyes narrowed at him, and the next thing I knew, I was already pushing the cotton ball inside his mouth. Oh, God I was never raised to be this violent but with Roam, I felt like a totally different person with no manners at all.

He spit it out and then coughed. "What the hell, Jem?"

I stood up, my heartbeat was raising like crazy. "It's... It's your fault!"

Roam sighed then shook his head before he pulled me back to my seat. "That's not nice, Ahuvi."

"Well, you weren't nice when we first met. You were a total snob and now you're openly flirting with me?" Good heavens, where did those words come from? Please, please, crack the floor open and let me jump willingly now.

He smirked and ran his fingers onto his hair before he leaned towards me, making me hold my breath as his face drew closer to mine. His eyes scanned my face while I was looking like a ripe tomato with a body of an ugly statue?

"How could I not act that way when all I could think of that night was pulling you close, locking you in my arms, and kissing those lips of yours 'til you remember everything, hmm?"

I blinked. "R--Remember everything?"

My chest felt a tug when his lips twisted for a broken smile. Even his eyes turned sad all of a sudden, and his shoulders went up and down when he breathed in a shallow breath. "Never mind. There's no use in forcing you." I felt like I got thrown into the fire when he held my hand and placed it on his cheek.

"R--Roam, what are you--"

He shut his eyes and gently caressed his thumb on the back of my hand. "Shh. Forget first aid. Your touch will heal me faster."

"Huh?" My forehead creased. "What do you mean--"

My eyes widened and shock hit me like a lightning bolt when his cuts slowly healed. What the hell? Did God just promoted me as a freaking faith healer?! This was the craziest thing I'd ever seen!

Shocked with what I was seeing, my heart went wilder until my breathing became too fast. I couldn't control it especially when I felt the familiar sensations I started feeling eversince I met Roam. My whole system was on a haywire and every fiber in my body was set on fire.

When I couldn't take it anymore, I pulled my hand and stood up but my legs were jelly and the whole world was spinnig around me until I lost my balance.

Roam immediately caught me and carried me in a bridal way. I looked at him but I was too dizzy to see his expression clearly. All I knew was, my heart started to calm down when he pecked a couple of gentle kisses on my forehead. My eyes shut and my head rested against his hard chest.

He carried me back to the room I woke up in and carefully placed me on the bed. When I tried to look at him, I saw him clutching his fingers onto his hair as if he got frustrated.

I couldn't understand why seeing him that way hurt me. There's a part of me that wanted to ease away his frustration but I was too weak to even call his name. When I drifted to a deep slumber, I realized I was inside a familiar dream again, but unlike before that the man's face was blurry, now, I could see his whole face... and how he turned into a monster that made me scream.

I held the hem of the dress that appeared to be a wedding gown as I ran through the woods with him chasing after me. Tears were falling down my cheeks while I was begging him to spare my life, yet he didn't listen. When he caught me, he held me by my arms and looked at me with his furious eyes. He growled a loud growl, but all I could do was call him in a terrified way.

"Ahuvi..."
