"How's the wound? Does it hurt?" Vivienne asked.

"If I say it hurts, what would you do?" Asher countered.

Vivienne paused. Yes, even if he was truly in pain, what could she do?

He raised his hand, free from the IV drip, and suddenly brushed back his own bangs, revealing the faint scar on his previously flawless forehead. Though it was not long and the stitching was skillfully done, it resembled a crack in a perfect porcelain piece, a mark of imperfection.

"Is it ugly?" he murmured.

She shook her head. "Don't worry, the doctor said that if it heals well, there won't be any scar."

"If I'm not good-looking, would you still like me?" For him, whether there would be a scar, whether it would hurt or not, was not what concerned him. The only thing he cared about was her reaction. "You said that you would like me because I'm good-looking."
