The Rejection

Cassie's POV

My name is Cassie.  I am an Omega from Night Creeper Pack.  My father is the beta of the pack.  My eldest brother Johnny will become beta in three months.  

Today is my 17th birthday.  Usually, when a werewolf turns 17 they find their mate. Well, today if I find my mate he will reject me.  For an Omega, life is not always pleasant.  There are two types of Omegas.  The ones like me who are kept only for breeding with the strongest males and the ones who are like slaves.

I knew my entire life that I was an Omega.  My mother was an Omega also.  She is my and my twin's mother but not my older brothers. Their mother died before I was born. Thanks to my father being the pack's beta I was reserved for breeding.  My pups could be as strong as the Alpha.  Today was my last day of school.  Alpha Xander will be sending me to a small cottage on the outskirts of the pack's territory.

The school day is now over and I am with my brother as he takes me to see the Alpha.  Johnny knocks on the alpha's door.  "Come in Johnny." Alpha Xander said.  When we walked in the Alpha stiffed the air before smiling.  When his eyes set on me his smile instantly faded.  His smile was replaced by an almost sad frown.  Of course, that man with the sweet scent of chocolate was going to reject me.  I would be a fool if I thought otherwise.  "Thank you, Johnny.  I will take it from here."  Johnny nodded and turned toward me with a small smile before leaving.

Alpha Xander was six feet tall with lots of muscles.  His eyes were a baby blue color.  His hair was jet black with skin the color of milk chocolate.  His age was 23.  He had been alpha for a little over four years after his father was killed in a rogue attack.  I kept my head down so I wouldn't feel much worse once he rejects me.  "Cassie McIntire I Alpha Xander alpha of Night Creeper Pack reject you as my mate and Luna of this pack." Alpha Xander said.  I didn't give him time to say anything else I ran for the nearest cliff.

As I jumped I felt strong arms on me stopping me from going over the edge of the cliff.  I looked at the person to who the arms belonged and I saw none other than Alpha Xander.  "Cassie, what were you thinking?  You didn't let me finish," Alpha Xander said in a way that could be taken as a concerned person.

"You should have let me go.  I don't want to be in this pack any longer." I said as I pulled away.  Or at least I tried to pull away.  

"Cassie.  Usually, as an Omega, you shouldn't have a mate.  It is very unusual." Alpha Xander said as he looked into my eyes.  I felt a strong desire to pull him closer so I could press my lips against his but I knew that would lead to disaster so I resisted.

"Please just let me go Alpha.  You don't want me and I can't bear to stay here." I said as I tried again to pull away.  This time Alpha Xander stood up and picked me up and carried me back into the packhouse.  I fought him with everything I had in me.  Why is he taking me to the packhouse?  I thought as I stopped fighting and looked where he was taking me.

"Listen to me Omega.  You are staying in this pack.  You will be my breeder.  This will be your new home.  It is right next to my apartment.  I will have Johnny build a door that goes from your small apartment to mine." Alpha Xander said as he sat me down on the floor of a small dark apartment.  See the packhouse is like a high-rise apartment building.  The Alpha's apartment is at the top while his office is on the ground floor near the front door.

"What does this mean?" I asked but the alpha just turned and walked out. I hear the door being locked.  I sat on the floor shaking.  What did he mean by me being his breeder?  Why couldn't he let me go?  He didn't want me as his mate so why wouldn't he let me jump off the cliff?  He wouldn't have to deal with me anymore if I did so.   

After a while, I decided to look around the apartment.  I knew I would likely never see the outside of this apartment again.  This apartment had one bedroom that lead to the bathroom. The bathroom had a small shower in it and a small tub.  The living room was a little small and no door separated the living room and the kitchen.  The stove had only two burners and a tiny oven.  The fridge was small with an even smaller freezer on top.  I looked inside to find it empty.

Great, he is going to starve me too.  I thought as I closed the fridge.  There was a small love seat in the living room with a small twenty-inch tv.  The only good thing about this entire apartment was the shelves full of movies and books.  I would be kept entertained by all the movies and books.  I decided to see what kind of shows I would watch on the tv or if I was only to watch the movies that were provided for me.

I found a movie series on the shelves call Twilight.  I knew that this movie had horse-sized werewolves in it.  I decided to watch it to see how close the movies got it.  I watched the first two and decided I was ready to lay in the bed.  Before I got to the room I heard something at the door.  Must be Johnny carrying out Alpha's command.  I wondered if he knew who was in this apartment.  I headed toward the room to find a nice soft bed.  I fell asleep quickly only to be woken up by Johnny.  "Hey sis what are you doing in here?"  Johnny said after shaking me awake.

"Alpha Xander is my mate and he rejected me and now he said I am his breeder,"  I said barely sitting up.  Johnny growled a little causing me to jump up into a seated position.  "What is wrong with you?"

"He rejected you and now he wants to mate with you any time he wants to.  That is just wrong."  Johnny said with a loud growl.

"Johnny stop. He is the Alpha and he could exile you for your insubordination."  I said as I placed my hand on my eldest brother's shoulder.  

"You are right I am sorry.  Let's go speak with your mate."  Johnny said after a second of silence.  We walked in silence toward the Alpha's office.  After knocking the Alpha opened the door.  "Cassie told me she is your mate," Johnny said as he walked in with his arms around my shoulder.

"That is true," Alpha replied with his eyes on me.  "Even if I wanted her as more than an Omega no male would resist her.  I don't want to share her.  I never share what is mine."

"Then assign her a bodyguard like Martin.  They are twins and you know he or I for that matter wouldn't be attracted to her scent." Johnny said after a moment of silence.  Alpha hadn't stopped staring at me since we walked into his office.  I felt self-conscience,  I wanted to hide behind Johnny. I wasn't sure how it would turn out if I did.  He seemed to be enjoying looking at me.  But why?

"Good you both will take turns in guarding her," Alpha said we quickly left.  I was worried about what was going to happen next.  Johnny led me to my little apartment.  I was glad when he decided to sit with me.  Eventually, Johnny had to leave.  He had only recently discovered that Alpha's brother Quintin was his mate.  It was highly rare for werewolves to be gay.  When a wolf is interested in the same gender they usually assume the Moon Goddess forgot to have a mate born for them. 

As Johnny left I felt instantly lonely.  I sat on the loveseat and watched the rest of the second Twilight movie.  They got the werewolf thing all wrong.  Our wolves are no bigger than gray wolves.  We didn't fight vampires.  I am not even sure if vampires exist.  Females also shift not just males.  When we find our mates we go by the scent they give off, not eye contact.  Although if you look into your mate's eyes while they reject you, your heart feels like it is going to burst and kill you.

After finishing the second movie I thought about reading the third book.  I figured this one could only get better.  Perhaps they will get more right.  One thing wrong with the third book is that Jacob is supposed to be alpha because he is the decedent of some past alpha.  If they were like real werewolves Jacob wouldn't be able to refuse to be alpha.

As I watched this movie I got an idea.  I would try to escape.  When I checked the front door it was locked.  So I checked on the door that lead to the Alpha's apartment.  It was also locked.  Well dang.  I am really stuck.  Well, I will try the window.  I thought to myself.  And that will be a no.  There is no balcony and no way for me to get down without falling to my death.  Besides, it looks like he has these locked too.  He thought of everything.  I still didn't know why he wasn't letting me go.  If I died then he would just find some pretty girl that wanted to be Luna.  He also wouldn't have to deal with me and do all of this to keep me here.

As I stood there sulking my stomach started to growl.  "Johnny I am starving," I said through the pack's mind link.

"Well make something to eat,"  Johnny replied.  

"There is nothing,"  

"Alright, how does McDonald's sound?"

"Great thanks,"  I replied before sitting back and waiting for Johnny to come over.  

"You are lucky sis.  Xander has decided I will sit with you for the remainder of the day until he is finished with his Alpha duties.  So let's eat."  Johnny said when he walked in.

"I am sorry I took you away from Quintin,"  I replied feeling bad.

"That is alright.  He had to go to Blue Mountain pack.  They have an Omega there they want to give us."  Johnny replied as he hand me my chicken sandwich.   We sat and talked through the entire rest of the day.  Towards the end of the day, we heard someone trying to get into my apartment from the front door.  Thinking it could be Xander, I sniffed the air.  I realized it wasn't him. "Sounds like it is time for me to leave."

"No don't go,"  I said as I grabbed my brother's arm.

"Cassie I am sorry you can't escape it.  He is going to want to mate."  Johnny said.

"Johnny if that was Xander I wouldn't be wanting to stay here.  He hasn't ever treated me badly but that isn't Xander."  I said as the noise got louder.  

"Alright, I just mind linked Xander.  He is coming."  Johnny said as he sat back down.  We heard a loud bang outside before all noises stopped.  "Xander still has some paperwork to do and then he will be back,"  Johnny said after a few minutes.  I couldn't help but yawn.  "Go lay down I will stay out here until Alpha returns."  I did as Johnny suggested.  I walked to the room and laid in the soft bed and fell asleep fast.
