Chapter 2 Con-Artist

MY HANDS were shaking while typing a message to Rosario, but the man grabbed my phone quickly and threw it out the window with a lot of force.

My mouth opened wide in shock. I blinked and spoke.

"What the heck?!" I spout out.

But he didn't say anything to me. As he crossed the road in a direction I didn't know, he was looking straight ahead.

For a moment, I kept looking at him. In a short time, he's gotten more handsome. His chiseled face looks almost perfect. And those goddamn lips...

His sharp jaw movement swallowed me up. Then the cell phone was taken out of his pocket. When he got a call.

"How's Florisse doing?" he asked in a quieter voice.

"Okay, take care of her in the meantime. I'll call you later." He has ended the call and is now driving for real.

As we approached the precinct, I hurriedly raised my back in the car chair.

"What are we doing here, exactly? My mouth stuttering agitated me.

It was only at that moment that he turned his gaze toward me. As I stare into those dark, stony eyes, my breath leaves my lungs.

"I guarantee that you will pay for all of this."

As he took me inside, he tightened his grip on my arm. My slanted eyes drew everyone's critical attention to me as they exchanged glances.

"This scumbag woman crashed to my wedding. I request that you charge her with scandal and libel!" He disclosed to police.

When the man spoke, my eyes widened.

"What? I am not a bad person, no!"

"You truly are, miss!" He arches his brows and clenches his jaw as he looks at me.

"What happened?" inquired the rotund officer.

I instantly swallowed my tongue and was unable to speak. Should I confess that I made a mistake at the wedding I recently attended? But I would most certainly still be free.

"I intend to bring charges against this woman. I want her to rot in prison and never be released." His speech was strong and robust to the police officer who was observing me.

I gnaw on my lower lip. I bowed because I could not withstand his judgemental gaze.

The police questioned me, "What can you say, miss?" as someone typed on a typewriter.

I was compelled to invent the story if something happened like this. So I gathered myself and starts a lie.

"I am pregnant with his child. He plans to leave me and our future child for another woman and marry her!" I stated devoid of emersion.

"What? No!" I observed the man's dark face and groan in response to what I stated.

Damn it, Natalia. He did not appear to accept my justification, so I cried while speaking.

"He does not wish to assume care for my child." I sobbed.

"What? You are a filthy liar! "He hissed. I nearly leaped out of my seat due of his menacing appearance.

The officer shook his head at the man before continuing to type.

"I'm not lying. This is my proof, sir!" I successfully retrieved the pregnancy kit from the sling bag. Rosario handed it to me in the event that something unforeseen occurred. I have two more pregnancy result in my bags, and show all of them to the officer.

"What? I barely know this f*cking woman and have never touched her. I've just seen her!" His eyes were nearly crimson with rage as he addressed the officers.

"One night stand! We engaged in a one-night stand!" I spoke out loud despite the fact that I could not breathe due to the overwhelming guilt I felt.

"Fuck!" He stood up and ripped out his hair quickly.

"This woman seemed to be telling the truth, sir. Perhaps you will be one to blame if you force her and leave her behind while she's pregnant," said the police officer.

"No! I would like for you to place this woman in that cell. I have never met her!" He points out the nearby railing.

I stated in a trembling voice, "I want to bring a complaint against him, too."

"Fuck!" I heard his coarse sound.

Okay, miss. Your name, please?" The deputy inquired.

"Natalia Punongbayan, sir."

"Your age?." I briefly regarded the man in front of me who was staring at me.

"23"

He then turned to the man after asking a few questions about me.

"What's your name, gentleman?"

I did not initially receive a response from him since I observed that he was still upset by the chat. The police were obviously on my side. If only they knew... I chuckled slightly.

"Argo — Augustus GreenSmith I'm 27," he said.

As his keen gaze settled on me, I licked my lower lip.

"Eh, do you have no plans to settle this?"

"No!" We tough answered both.

"Sir, Argo. If you just forgive her, it won't be a problem. After all, you're going to have children? Will you be able to bear to have your child born in prison?" said the policeman.

He sat down weakly in the chair and rubbed his palms over his face several times.

I held my sling bag tightly and waited for his answer. Shit, Natalia. If he doesn't agree, you will surely be sleeping at the cold railing tonight.

"You both speak first." The officer rose from his seat and left us.

"Okay, I'll speak with her first." he said and we went to the car.

I only sat silently and had no intention of initiating conversation, but he initiated first with a gleam in his eyes.

"Tell me, are you really pregnant?"

Before responding, I clenched my eyes tightly and swallowed many times.

"Y-Yes..." My tongue lied.

"Fuck!" He struck the driving wheel repeatedly.

I'm lost in words seeing him in a state of heartbreak and frustration. If only I could turner back time, I will not ruined his wedding ceremony.

He then stopped, shake his head and then softly drove the vehicle away from the police station.

I bit my lower lip and turned to the window, averting my gaze from the area where I was earlier.

We eventually stopped on the side of the road, from my seat, I could see the Mayon Volcano in front of me.

I caught a glimpse of him as he tightly closed his eyes and pressed his finger between his noses.

"What is our purpose here?" I utter a query.

"Shut up! Just give me a minute..." His voice still included a trace of wrath.

I reclined back in my driving seat and silently observed Mayon and the sunset from this vantage point.

I only looked back at him when he exited the vehicle after forcibly pulling the flower in front of it.

I swallowed as I observed him holding the flower while seated on the limousine's hood.

"Oh, God! What am I done?"

I observed as he angrily flung it down the gully and returned to the vehicle. I shifted uneasily in my seat when he restarted the car.

"Where are we headed?" I was hesitant to interrogate because he stepped on the gas.

"We're going to hell!" he exclaimed vehemently...
