I held Ivan back as he rushed toward the man standing in our sitting room, a sad smile playing on his lips.

“Is that how you welcome your father, Ivan?” the man asked a twinge of sadness in his tone.

“You're dead to me!” Ivan snarled at him.

“That's not how you're supposed to address me, Ivan, control your temper,” he said.

I scoffed, “You’ve got some nerve coming back here, old man, and who do you think you are to tell Ivan what he should feel and shouldn't?”

“Let me go so he would know exactly how my temper is!” Ivan snarled, struggling in my grip.

I refused to loosen my grip while our father stared at us with that sad smile. His blue eyes looked sharp and he still looked the same as he had looked three years ago.

The day he walked away from us, I mused sadly.

“Why did you come back here, huh?” I asked him, trying to calm my anger and hold Ivan.
