002~ I WAS

Leah

"Then what do you mean, Leah? I can't have my mother breathing down my neck for a grandchild, and my wife, who is supposed to understand me, demanding sex from me  every time like she is starved of it."

"Starved of it? When was the last time you touched me, Liam? Because I don't say it doesn't mean it isn't obvious that you are ignoring me in bed. I know you love me, but I still have sexual urges, Liam. Why are you making it seem like I am asking too much?" I said, trying to hold back my tears.

"Goddamit, Leah, you act as if you don't know what I am going through. Well, I don’t blame you, your parents are wealthy and you don't have to worry about anything except sex!"

"Liam," I screamed, feeling hurt by his words.

"Fuck this!" He said, and walked away slamming the door behind him.

Silent tears ran down my cheeks as I was left alone in the room. I shouldn't have said that. I should have just endured like I always did, and maybe it wouldn't have escalated. I sounded like all I cared about was sex.

As I lay back down on the bed, I promised to talk with Liam the next morning before we went to work. If he was too angry to talk I would just apologise and later we would talk about it.

The next morning, Liam had left before I woke up.

"He is still angry." I sighed.

"Good morning, ma," the cook greeted me when I came down to the dining room that was connected to the kitchen.

"Good morning," I smiled at her as I took the hot coffee she served me.

Usually, I made the coffee for I and Liam before he went to work, but today, he left earlier. I had her make it for me while I prepared for work.

"You are finally awake. What a good wife you are. You let your husband sleep outside his room last night!" His mother scolded coming into the kitchen just as I was about to take a sip of my coffee.

"Good morning, Mother," I greeted, ignoring her, which annoyed her.

"I am not surprised. Your mother couldn't save her marriage. Like mother like daughter." She spat with spite.

I dropped the coffee cup on the table with a loud clang stood up from the chair, my blood boiling, and faced her.

"Don't you dare speak about my parents that way? I can take you insulting me, but don't bring my parents into this. They did nothing wrong!" I screamed, and she flinched and stepped back, almost falling.

"I am trying with you, but you are making it impossible to get along, Mother. Please, give me a break as I am going through a lot right now." I pleaded.

"Are you planning on hitting me, Leah?" She laughed nervously, holding the chair beside her for support.

"I will tell Liam about this. You are an evil woman!" She threatened.

What was I expecting? She would never change.

---

"Fuck! I feel like a villain in my own story." I sighed, resting my head on the steering wheel.

There was no need for us to fight over sex, right? I should have kept it to myself. I have been doing a good job dealing with it on my own even though it felt different from a man's touch. That was what I craved, Liam's touch. We can't compare a dick to my fingers!

My phone buzzed with a notification, and I picked up my phone from the seat to read the message from Sam, my best friend.

Sam: Yo! Wanna grab lunch with me during your break?

I smiled and replied that it was a great idea and she sent me a thumbs-up emoji. I put my phone in my handbag and got out of the car. I was going to be busy in the office all morning, including the board meeting, so I didn't have the leisure to dwell on what happened yesterday. When he comes back today, I will make sure we talk about it. There was no point in just apologizing and ignoring the problem.

I stumbled, nearly hitting the ground when a strong arm wrapped around me, a gasp forming in my throat. A heady mix of expensive cologne, tobacco, and something else I couldn't pinpoint the source flooded my senses. The arm tightened, pulling me back not too close but close enough to feel the sudden heat behind me.

"Another moment and you'd be kissing the ground, doll." A deep rough voice whispered in my ear, sending shivers down my spine.

"T-thank you." I stammered stepping away from him.

I turned to face him, he was tall and broad. He was on a black coat that failed at hiding his powerful physique. His long, black hair was tied in a messy bun, a few strands escaping to frame his face where a scar, starting just above his sharp eyebrow down his cheek. His black intense eyes, stared down at me, as he took a long drag from his cigarette, the smoke curling out in a slow exhale.

He was Sam's type. She had a thing for hot sex men who excluded danger, and this man excluded more than danger. He was the type of man I steered clear of. Yet, the way he looked at me like a predator does its prey, devouring me with his eyes, made my stomach clench.

He took a step forward, my heart hammering against my ribs as I stood frozen, his eyes holding mine. He reached out slowly, brushing a strand of hair from my face, his cold fingers grazing my cheeks and sending a jolt through me. He leaned in, catching me off guard as he inhaled my hair deeply.

"I like your hair—" he murmured. "—your eyes and your..." he trailed off, his gaze dipping down to my lips, lingering there for a beat too long.

I could feel the tension between us. There was something about the way he talked that scared me. It felt like I was stepping into something dangerous without knowing. He was someone I should avoid at all costs. I slapped his hand away, growing angry at him for being disrespectful and for myself for letting him.

"Keep your hands to yourself!"

He chuckled a dark sound that sent a tremor through me. He was bad news. Real bad news!

"My apologies, doll. I didn't mean to get handsy." He said a mischievous smile on his lips.

He didn't look sorry one bit. If anything, his smile was telling me he was going to keep doing it.

"It's difficult to resist when something beautiful catches my eye."

I was about to express my disgust about him calling me a 'doll' when a man in a black suit interrupted me.

"Boss," the man called from behind the stranger who turned to him.

"There is something you need to look at now." He informed.

He stared at the man behind long before turning to me with a smirk. "I'd love to continue our conversation, but I have to leave now."

"Whatever." I rolled my eyes and turned to leave.

"See you next time, doll," he said, and I turned to glare at him.

"Don't call me that!" I warned, and he chuckled behind me.

I could feel his eyes on my back as I walked away. Those intense black eyes that felt like they could shoot a hole through me followed me until I left the parking lot.

I thought of the odds of running into him again.  If he was in this parking lot, then he must be visiting our company.

Who was he?
