Chapter 28:

"Do have your seat and make yourself comfortable," he gently offered. He extended his hand and motioned for Layla, who was standing behind him, to take a seat.

Nothing had changed in his apartment; the settings and furnishings were exactly as she had left them, and he had done a good job of making sure everything was tidy, sparklingly clean, and well-organized.

"Tea or coffee?" he asked as Layla quickly sat down on the immaculately arranged chair in front of her.

"Coffee will do." She responded almost instantly as Jake moved to the kitchen, which wasn't far from the sitting room, to prepare them some coffee.

After a little while, he handed her a cup of coffee and seated next to her while Layla made a slight adjustment away from him. He didn't know where to start, but he just had to talk to her.
