CHAPTER 29:

Jake looked seductively at Layla and then felt the need to kiss her. His memory of her soft, delicate lips during their last kiss was still clear in his mind. He fixed his gaze squarely in her direction.

She could tell what he was thinking and where he was headed without uttering a word, and he knew exactly what to say to set the tone. It resembled a moment from a movie she had already seen when their eyes met.

Layla could feel the pounding of his heart, or maybe it was her own; she was no longer sure. She could see herself trembling and perspiring profusely, but she didn't know what to do.

He had completely thrown her off balance, and she missed him so badly. She yearned for his touch, kiss, and affection since no one did those things better than he did.

She felt that everything was moving too quickly and wanted to take her time. She was disregarding the risk when she behaved in this way.
