Chapter Twenty-Five

The flight to Ireland would take close to eight and a half hours so I settled into my seat and ordered a water. I had almost ordered a Brandy, but alcohol was officially off of the menu for the next nine or so months. When the stewardess returned with my drink, she took a seat at the table across from Chase and myself, putting her next to James.

"Aside from recent events how have you been Mrs. Maddox?"

I knew he was just trying to make conversation, but I couldn't help but feel a tiny stab of anger toward him. I mean how does he think I am doing? Two friends now have been killed and my husband of less than a day had just been kidnapped.

"Ask me again in a couple days," I bit out.

James put his head down. "I'm sorry it was in poor taste to ask you how you have been."

Chase cast a sympathetic look to James. "How are things going with getting the foundation up and running James?"
