Chapter Twenty-Seven

I stood at the front of the crowd with my hair pulled tightly into a ponytail on the top of my head. I wore my brown leather training gear that Guinivere had gifted me with. My two daggers were sheathed in their leather holsters on the outside of my thighs. Guin stood beside me dressed so she looked like my twin. Chase stood to Guin's other side and Jax stood to my left.

"This is where she rules the coven?" I asked Chase skeptically.

"It was once a beautiful place. I'm afraid it seems to have withered with her soul."

The earth around this emaciated castle was brown from neglect and the building itself was overrun by what appeared to have once been thorny rose bushes. I knelt down on one knee, so I could feel the earth beneath me. It was crying out for help.
