It had been a few days since Alexander’s mother dropped the news on him. The Alpha had ever since avoided meeting his mother. His father remained quiet in his matter , opting to silently support his wife instead. Alexander knew that asking his father's help was of no use. It was clear that both his parents were planning on this date for a long time ago since his mother was so excited.

On the other hand, his dreams had become more frequent. Almost each night, he dreamt about the girl with long hair and soft eyes. His dreams would be the same.

The smile of the omega was now imprinted on his mind.

His Alpha would roar each time he dreamt about that beautiful Omega, growling in the darkness of the night when realisation would hit him that it was just a dream and not reality.

In his dreams, he would chase the omega . The Omega would run with a big smile on her face and mischief in her soft eyes.

And so Alexander found himself sitting in front of his laptop. The number of tabs was open in front of him with the third coffee in his hand .

" Are you ready?" Isaac , his best friend and only friend, called out from the hallway as soon as he entered Alexander’s pent house. "Come on ! Be quick!" Isaac shouted those words before he made his way towards Alexander’s bedroom, thinking that the other Alpha was still sleeping. " Dont tell me that you are still sleeping!" He shouted , feeling frustrated.

He barged into the room and saw Alexander looking at him with a raised brow, unimpressed.

"Why are you here?" Alexander asked before taking another sip of the coffee and grimacing at it as the coffee had now gone cold.

"What am I doing here? " Isaac asked, shocked evident in his voice as he spoke before walking closer to the bed. Alexander didn't give him any attention. "We are supposed to go hiking this morning! " Isaac shouted and watched how realisation hit Alexander’s face. The younger Alpha finally looked at him. Isaac gave him an unimpressed look and tilted his head to the side. "Seriously? I have been waiting for you for the past thirty minutes! You are not even picking your call up!" He had his hands on his hips as he said.

Alexander’s scent turned bitter because of shame . They both had planned this hike since a week ago.

"Sorry. Something came up." Alexander said as he closed his laptop and turned to look at Isaac.

"What came up? " Isaac asked as he sat on the bed beside Alexander. "We don't have any work pending. " Isaac said he was working under Alexander. They had kept their professional life and private life separately.

"Something personal. " Alexander said , trying to end the conversation but knew that it was never a case with Isaac. His best friend was always nosy about everything.

"Personal? What personal? Do you have any physical problems, or is it about some omega? If it is about omega , you know that i am a love guru, right?" Isaac asked , glee in his eyes as he thought that his best friend was finally getting somewhere in his love life.

"It... It's not something about that. " Alexander said, looking downwards as he spoke. He had never talked about his nightmares to anyone. He had always thought that his nightmares had certain meanings behind them, but saying this to Isaac felt weird. What if he thinks that Alexander had gone crazy? "I am just thinking about a tradition. I can't find any information about this tradition. I don't even know whether there is any tradition like this to begin with."

Alexander said, his voice getting low as he spoke. Every night he would dream about chasing an Omega in the forest and every time he would wake up from his dream, his wolf would be beyond happy but at the same time he would feel as if a part of him was missing.

"What is the tradition you are talking about?" Isaac asked.

"About an Alpha chasing an Omega. " Alexander said. He kind of felt as if the chasing in his dreams had some other importance other than just playful mischief. He couldn't pinpoint it, but it felt that it had some deeper importance. He had searched this topic in numerous books and spent hours browsing through the internet for some help, but it was of no use.

Isaac remained silent for several seconds, and Alexander cocked his head to his side with a raised brow.

"It's an old tradition. " Isaac finally said , gaining complete attention of his best friend. "It was a thing in unmated couples. When an omega would challenge an alpha or beta to chase them, it was an indirect test of that alpha or beta's capabilities. " When he saw the confused look on Alexander’s face, he continued, "Because it was the omega who would invite them, it would be clear that the omega considered them as their potential mate. By chasing , Alpha's and beta's patience would be tested. The omega would play hard to get and hence make the chase longer. If they would catch the omega at the end of the chase, then they were given the permission to officially court the omega."

"And what if they were not able to catch the omega? “Alexander asked , extremely immersed in the story.

Isaac looked at his fingers in his lap. " Then they were considered unfit by the people, and hence, they were not allowed to court the omega . The chase would also dictate the strength of the Alpha." He explained.

Alexander looked amused by this story, and it was almost comical to see him without his poker face on.

"All this process just to court an omega? It is so simple now. We don’t have any weird traditions. If a couple like each other, they just get married and mated." Alexander commented with a chuckle as he closed his laptop and placed it on the bedside table.

" That's true. Years ago, Omega's were treated like a god because they were the one who would bring new life in this world. They were treated differently. Whenever an Omega was born, there would be feast as a celebration of the omega. People would dance around the fire while singing happy songs. It was totally different from now."

Which was true. Now Omega’s were not treated fairly. People didn't celebrate their birth.

Alexander nodded before looking at Isaac. "How do you know so much about this tradition? I didn't get any information from all the books I've read nor did the internet help."

"My grandmother used to tell me all these stories, stupid!" Isaac said with a frown on his face as if he couldn't believe that his best friend was this stupid. " Anyway, what have you decided for your date?"

"Date?" Alexander asked, genuinely confused.

"The date that your mother organised? Your first ever blind date? Not to mention that your first ever date in general? Yes, that date." Isaac reminded and watched as realisation finally hit Alexander.
