POV

Today was my first day back at school since Jessica moved, it didn’t feel the same since she moved away. I walk across the school sports ground. I was going to a quiet place to read. I’ve been reading a lot more recently. Since Jessica’s gone, I don’t feel like interacting with other human beings.

I didn’t just lose my best friend but one of the best uncles I knew. Uncle Santos was a great uncle, my father and him were best friends they did everything together including buying houses next to one another. Last night I saw the new people moving in. I was more upset than I thought I would be.

I sit down behind my tree I take out my book. I continue reading where I last left off.

"Hey what are you reading?" I hear from behind me.

I turn closing my book. The girl behind me has her dark hair tied in a bun her green eyes so light it almost looks brown, I frown. There’s no way a pretty girl like her would even look my way. I turn back to my book.
