4. Looking from afar

Inside the mansion in one of the rooms, Kenan was soaking in the super luxurious bathtub with a glass of drink in his hand. His eyes were closed as he savored the victory he had just won.

Today several television news outlets have broadcast the arrest of Wisnu Wiratama in one of the hotel rooms. Not because of embezzlement of company money but drugs. Wisnu was not alone but with several comfort women.

A satisfied smile made Kenan's face excited. He imagined the embarrassment of the Wiratama family and how his sharp-mouthed wife would deal with the media who would not stop harassing her until Kenan stopped her.

For a long time Kenan enjoyed his alone time until he heard a ringing tone from the telephone set on top of the bathroom shelf.

"Kenan! Have you seen the news about Wisnu?"

There was no opening greeting when Anjani's voice rang in Kenan's ears.

"I have and I'm very ashamed of it," Kenan replied.

"Kenan, I beg you to help Wisnu get out of police custody. He is your father-in-law and you should do what's best for him!"

Kenan smiled sarcastically at Anjani's command. "I would have helped if only Wis

nu wasn't involved with drugs."

"You mean you refused?"

"That's right. I would have helped Wisnu out of trouble had he done anything else. You must know the risks I would have to face if I got involved in it," Kenan replied cautiously.

"You are his son-in-law. How could you not care?"

"How many people know that I'm his son-in-law? Not many and I refuse to be humiliated by Wisnu's immoral behavior!" Kenan refused firmly.

"Kenan, I believe Wisnu is being framed. He is a good man and has never done anything against the law in his life."

"How do you know? I hope you can find a lawyer who can commute Vishnu's sentence."

Heartlessly, Kenan hung up the phone and laughed loudly at the thought of Anjani being frustrated at not being able to save her husband.

"How can you get a lawyer when you don't have a dime," Kenan taunted between laughs.

Kenan was still savoring his victory while in one of the rooms in the rental house, Andien stared at the television screen with tears streaming down her face.

"How could you do it, Kenan."

Andien moved from the television to the mirror. Her face was still covered in bandages after her second surgery because she wanted perfection while no one knew who she really was.

"Aunty, can I come in?"

Andien turned her head as soon as she heard Keanu's voice from outside the door. The boy was the only one who always came to her house because until now Andien didn't have anyone she could make friends with.

"Come in!"

The door opened followed by the appearance of Kenan wearing a trouser suit and shirt. He looked neat and adorable.

"Where are you going?"

"To the mall. Do you want to come?" asked Keanu.

"Unfortunately, I can't go anywhere yet. It must be nice to be accompanied by doctor Hanna," muttered Andien.

"He uh. Aunt Hanna is the kindest aunt. Aunt Hanna always defends me when papa is angry," said Keanu, making Andien laugh.

Andien knew Hanna after being introduced by Erlangga after she was discharged from the hospital after her first surgery and it was Hanna who suggested to Andien that she have further surgery to make her appearance more perfect.

"You won't refuse if we take you out later, right?"

"Hemm."

After getting an answer from Andien, Keanu ran outside and Andien watched Keanu until the boy crossed the fence.

"Hay," Hanna greeted Andien who appeared to greet Keanu.

Andien returned Hanna's greeting with a wave and watched Hanna walk towards where she stood.

"How are you?" greeted Hanna kindly.

"Fine."

"Can I ask you something?"

"Go ahead."

"You've been here for almost six months but we don't know how to address you. Are you seriously not going to tell us your name?"

Andien's eyes smiled and liked Hanna's statement. The woman in front of her always spoke to the point so Andien thought Hanna had nothing to hide.

"Andien. You can call me Andien," Andien replied.

"It's a real name, isn't it?" Hanna tested.

"I'm confused about using an alias. Just having a new face takes time to legalize let alone a new name," Andien replied.

"I like the way you think, Andien. I want us to exchange ideas more often because I think we both have practical minds."

"I'm always here in case you need someone to talk to," Andien said sincerely.

"Thank you. I'll be going now. I hope we can go out together, Andien."

Andien nodded when Hanna decided to leave and then Andien entered the house and locked the door tightly.

Inside the room, Andien watched the news again about Vishnu's arrest but on the television screen was Kenan with a beautiful woman whom Andien didn't recognize.

"Who is that woman? Is she Kenan's girlfriend?"

Andien closed her eyes trying to feel the heartache of jealousy from seeing Kenan with another woman in a very intimate manner. However, all Andien felt was anger and the feeling of wanting to avenge Kenan's actions on her father.

"It turns out that my heart was not affected by seeing Kenan making out with another woman. Has my heart never accepted Kenan since the beginning?"

"There is always something new in everything that happens. Mr. Wiratama may be a successful businessman but it is possible that he has another side that keeps him satisfied," Kenan replied when reporters asked him.

"Has Mr. Wiratama's arrest had any effect on you? Didn't you just enter into a cooperation?"

"All the cooperation that we have agreed to continues and I don't want any changes. This company belongs to Wisnu Wiratama and I will definitely take care of it," Kenan replied firmly.

"Will you hand over to Lord Wiratama's only daughter?"

Andien held her breath waiting for Kenan's answer. She had known Kenan for a long time and it was not unusual for Kenan to speak harshly to the other person.

"I will definitely hand over after we meet. Unfortunately I don't know where she is," Kenan replied.

"You've never met him?"

Kenan shook his head and walked away, not giving the reporter a chance to ask any more questions.

"You don't know me, Kenan," Andien whispered.

All the identity cards Andien ever had were left in the hotel room and Andien had no intention of taking them especially since Erlangga and Hanna had promised to help Andien get a new identity card according to the face she currently had.

Andien knew she couldn't get her savings at the bank if she used a new identity but she also knew all the savings she had were connected to Kenan. The only thing Kenan couldn't trace was the shareholding in Kenan's own company under an assumed name.

"I wonder if you kept your promise, Kenan. It must be nice to see you hand over everything you've taken to its rightful owner."
