Elijah's here!

I couldn't help but feel a pang of guilt in my chest. How could I answer such a complex question from my young son? How could I tell him that sometimes, things change and people drift apart?

Before I could come up with an answer, my phone rang. I apologized to Marco and told him that I needed to take the call. It was from Elijah and I didn’t expect he would come here to visit me.

“Wait for me here, son,”I said to Marco.

As I answered the phone, I could feel Marco's sad eyes on me. He was always so perceptive, even at his young age. I tried to keep the conversation with Elijah short, but he wanted to let me know that he was outside the house. He wanted to drop by and see me.

“I’m here waiting for you outside the house,”Elijah said.

“Wait,” I replied.

I hung up the phone and turned to Marco, I told him about Elijah. But I’m wondering about his reaction. He was just silent and obviously not interested to see him.

“Daddy Elijah is here, son,” I said.
