CHAPTER 15
“Before we continue, we would like to call our valedictorian” pause “and for the first time it’s a scholarship student”, there was a murmur in the crowd and I smiled.
My braces were off and I have been complimented to have the best set of teeth, I had paid it no mind, but I loved my teeth.
“I know, I know, they didn’t just come to take our money this year”, I hear a few snickers and I remember the argument William had with the various heads at the school.
I was the best and he had tried to see a way they could bypass all that and have one of the rich kids be valedictorian, but he couldn’t, apart from the clear gap in my result I had posted it online using an anonymous account, I let the public do the judging.
And here I was today_
“_Luca Gaudion”, I smile as I’m announced on stage.
“WOW”I exclaim amidst the glares, “I
CHAPTER 16“Please put on your seat belt as we prepare to land in New York”, the hostess announces.I sit up and pull of the eye cover, I hadn’t really been sleeping, I just wanted a moment for myself.I was finally where I wanted to be, well not where exactly, I was moving to where I wanted to be at a great speed. I mean I was on first class sponsored by the great William Smith, drinking expensive champagne and moving to a house sponsored by the company, I even got a tailor who fitted me and promised that my suits will be at New York before my arrival. And I had started buying shares with the money I had from old man Joe, I hadn’t heard from him since his first email, I really hope he was alright. He was a father figure, I wouldn’t ever accept that to his face though.“Sir, if you don’t mind?”, I look up to see a hostess gesturing to my belt which I hadn’t fastened yet,
CHAPTER 17EMBERLYNN’S POV“There’s no way we are sitting that party out, A”, I say bouncing on the bed.“I already said I wasn’t going to go Emb, so drop it”, She says turning to her laptop.I met A on my first day at NYU, I still remember that day, clear as if it was yesterday.A lot of people thought being rich didn’t have its disadvantages but yeah it did, loneliness was one of them, before her I had no one, just dad who tried his best to make out time for me but as always, a business man was a business man, I wouldn’t ever say that to him though, he was the best dad and I wouldn’t have it any other way.But when I came in here I was really scared, I mean I didn’t want to have a lonely university experience, so when I spilled coffee all over A and she slapped me not caring about my status or nothing, I stuck to her like glue.Nope I don’t enjoy pain, but I admired the way she corrected me.That day I had just gotten the coffee when
CHAPTER 18LUCA’S POV“You put in so much effort this week, you should join them for the hangout at Stephens”, Williams says after the end of another long day.It has been 6 months and a few since I was brought to New York as the P.A. to the great Mr. Smith, as he predicted there were a lot of objections from people that wanted to have the position and even more from his Board, but of course it all went away after a month.I still didn’t know how he managed to get them to shut up but whatever he did worked. The only downside was that I had no friend here and after sometime I sent a mail to old man Jack, yes that was how lonely I was. He didn’t reply though, maybe he lost the account or something but it was nice having someone for that while.“Quit thinking so hard, you have to get with these people, because you might need them for a reason tomorrow, not financial reason of course but maybe a vote
CHAPTER 19EMBERLYNN’S POV“I still don’t understand why you wanted to look round, the place is pretty simple”, A grumbles as we return back to the VIP lounge we booked for tonight. It was a pretty place, well if a club could be called pretty, the music was as loud as you will imagine it in a club, the ground beating type of music and you had to shout all your conversations to be heard above the music. The place wasn’t meant for talking though, when we passed the dance floor I had almost fainted from all the sexual energy in that place, they were lots of dry humping and I could be very positive that some had even moved right into the sex. That place practically oozed sex and sweat.Well when we walked in we moved to this silent bliss of a VIP room but it didn’t take long till I became itchy, I had to look round, to make sure there were no fine man I was missing,Hence my request to be shown round and sincerely there were lots of fine men down ther
CHAPTER 20LUCA’S POV“So, your friend doesn’t like me”, I say as soon as we are seated.“Ignore her, its not you, she is weary of all men” Emberlynn says.We are seated on the couch I purposely sat on earlier with her when I pretended Aria was invincible.Damn has she grown even more beautiful, I could feel my heart still beating, I liked her enough that time, maybe even love I couldn’t be sure. But now she seemed to be a present figure in Emberlynn’s life and I wasn’t sure where that would take me.My one saving grace is that it didn’t seem like she told Emberlynn the whole story about us, if not saying my name earlier would have been disastrous.Another thing was that she didn’t seem to remember our first encounter which was also good, or maybe I didn’t give her my name even then.It came as a surprise that she didn’t bother to find out anything about me either, its not like it was a pleasant meeting.“Weary of all
CHAPTER 21EMBERLYNN’S POV“that was pretty intense”, I stand and run my hands through my hair after righting my clothes.“You’re already regretting it?” he asks standing too.I look away and he starts to pace.To be sincere I wasn’t regretting the act of finally losing this virginity of a thing but in a club with someone who I didn’t even know, this really isn’t me, the only way i thought something like this was going to happen was if I was losing my mind and only people who were in love lose their mind.Love at first sight had never been my thing or rather I didn’t think it was, the thought of it was plain stupid, and that’s exactly what was happening to me, stupidity.“Quit pacing, it’s giving me a headache and of course I'm not regretting shit, it would have just been nice losing my virginity in a nicer place”, I found myself saying.“You really don’t regret it?” he asks standing in front of me, holding my face tenderly.I sm
CHAPTER 22LUCA’S POV“The contract is as useless as the stupid tray it was brought in”, Williams shouts at Mark Leon, he was just assigned the CEO of Global construction and his first move was to try and get Mr. Smith to back up a building project.Sincerely it was a bold mood, though the project was set to generate more income in the next 2 years after it was complete though. They wanted to build it into a hospital, to me an apartment should have been a better deal.“Sir I know you don’t see how attractive this is, but_” Mr. Leon starts.“Ph, of course I know it isn’t attractive, how long will it take to find someone who is willing to move into the building, and what if the Government decides it will be a nice spot, they rent it of course and for the first year we all relax and sip some wine with a little dollar, but what happens in a year’s time? When they decide charity is a good thin
CHAPTER 23EMBERLYNN’S POV“Your phone was ringing non-stop, I had to tell whoever that you were away”, Aria says from the bed.Surprised more at the fact that she was talking to me than the fact she picked my call, I turn to her.“What?” I say and she looks up from her phone surprised.“I can’t take your calls now too?” she says looking offended, I quickly shake my head.“No! You’re speaking to me! I mean I knew you weren’t angry with me but you kind of went into that shell like the first time”, I say awkwardly moving towards her.She shrugs and looks back at her phone, “You were making a bad decision and you weren’t listening to all the advice I was giving, I was pissed but as you pointed out, you're not a child, so basically now I'm like whatever”, she says.“You know I will always take your advice but the problem is I think when it has to do with men, you're uhm, like more sentimental and you let your heart do the judging not
