Chapter 87

Solana's POV

I couldn't fathom what had come over him.

Why did he suddenly behave that way?

It was probably the influence of the liquor.

I left him in the living room and made my way to my bedroom to grab a pillow and blanket.

Upon my return, Alton was already fast asleep, lost in deep slumber.

I gazed at his face for a moment. Dark circles adorned his eyes, and despite his rest, he appeared weary. It tugged at my heart as I observed him.

"I'm sorry," he whispered after a while, a tear escaping his eye, furrowing my brow.

"I'm sorry," he continued to repeat, tears streaming down his face.

I knelt on the chilly floor, wiping away the tears cascading down his cheeks.

"I'm sorry," he whispered again and again, his sobs echoing through his sleep.

My chest tightened as I listened to him cry in his sleep.

"It's fine," I reassured him, gently caressing his face.

"I'm here," I assured, and after a while, I felt his hand seeking mine.

He held my hand that cradled his face.

"I'm sorry,"
